Official Keypad Feedback Thread

I have played around with my securi-code pad a little, but in reality, I haven't really needed it yet. I've barely memorized the code...in fact, I forgot it now...

For someone who does a lot of watersports, hunting, etc where you might want to keep your key in a safe dry spot, I can see the benefit, but for the most part, it is a feature I wouldn't miss.

I'm pretty indifferent to it. Probably because I haven't had a Ford with it in so long. But, I'd certainly pay for it as an option so said yes. I could live without it and it not bother me a bit. My son loves his and I can understand why. Hope that's clear to anyone besides me lol!

Heck Yes, keep it. If not standard, at least an option on any trim level. I will say, the newer style where the buttons don't stick out, like on my wife's expedition is a sleeker better implemented look

I was honestly a little disappointed that the Maverick got the old style glued on looking keypad instead of the new hidden keypad like the wife's Bronco Sport. Better than not having it but sure looks better hidden on the pillar.

The Keypad (vertical orientation) being discussed/is wired, not the stick on wireless (horizontal orientation) accessory. I agree the newer style that are flush/integrated int the pillar do look nicer. I felt that the Maverick retainig a pad with real buttons was in keeping with Fords larger trucks. I have resigned myself to getting the wireless accessory if I go through with my 2024 order.

Off topic: My FordPass is great, until you are in a rural or remote area without cell service. Wanted to start Dads maverick for him after brunch last Sunday, but no cell service = no control.

The bean counters/focus groups are getting aggressive.

Love the keypad!!! I understand that I am breaking some sort of security rules, but I will have had my Lariat one year on July 29th. I have not touched nor looked for a key fob after the first day. Yes, it stays in the vehicle!

How does this work? If you leave the keyfob in the car wouldn't the doors open when you grab the handle? By the way love the keypad. Was on my F 150 seems to be a purely Ford feature. Not sure why other makers don't do this.

The doors are locked, grabbing the handle does nothing. The five digit code is required to get in the vehicle. Breaking a window would be required to get in the vehicle.

To echo some other commenters, I'd like to see the keypad style that's flush with the body.

Several people have said that you can use the phone app instead. Well I don't carry my phone if I'm swimming.

We had this on our Mariner but didn't realize how much we used it until we got our current Equinox. I'm extremely happy that our XLT LUX will have it, when I get it.

I use my keypad at minimum several times a week, for so many different reasons. I would hate to not have it.

Locking keys in the vehicle is a dangerous, lazy habit if done routinely. If you have push button start and it's within range it's trivial to get into the truck and start it, and drive away. If you don't have push button it's even worse because you're probably putting the key somewhere easy to grab and then insert into the ignition.

My truck has the code because it's a Lariat. It's ugly and unnecessary because my cell phone or key is always in my pocket. I've used the keypad a few times because it is faster than unlocking my phone, opening Fordpass, and holding unlock.I had a 92 Taurus SHO a long time ago and it had the keypad and I literally never used it. Why? Because you still need the key to drive and leaving the key inside is a risk.

I wouldn't pay for it. I have another Maverick being built this month and it doesn't have it.

Buy it from the parts dept. The pad can be stuck anywhere after a Ford dealer programs it, Bronco people like to stick it inside the gas door.

I agree. It is hideous. My lariat Tremor just came in, and I kind of want to flip it and just order the 24 just so I don't have to have this piece of 1980s tech on my new truck. I cannot believe people want this thing on their truck in the year 2023, and the backlash really surprises me. And i can get the Terrain color if I wait.

Decisions, decisions.

That being said, I do see how it could be convenient at the beach, but still not worth it. It's that damn ugly.

We have had the keypad on every Ford since it was first introduced. We leave our keys in it and never remove them. Including when I traded in my MachE and cleaned out the console and left the house. I really didn't realize it since I had the app that automatically unlocked it when I walked up. When I got to the dealership is when it hit me. O geez. 2 hr drive back home to get the fobs.

We have keypads on our doors to our homes also so we are NEVER searching for keys. We don't even have keychains. Pretty handy!

I love the key pad. Yesterday I had to use mine on my 23 hybrid . Got out of the truck yesterday and shut the door, walked around to the passenger door and somehow the doors got locked. Even my phone was in the truck. So I got in by using the keypad. So its not something I use everyday but its nice to have when I do dumb things like locking myself out of my truck

The problem with the door keypad Is that if you do not know about it or never use it, but accidentally leave your keys in the car, you get no warning, because that is what this feature was designed to accommodate, leaving keys in the vehicle. Most people don’t know about or know how to use all the tech features in their car. From my experience, most people, even Uber drivers, don’t even know how to properly use the air conditioner. If you don’t know the code, because you never bothered with this feature before, you are screwed. Maybe Ford was tired of hearing about all the people accidentally locking keys in the car, whereas all other brands give warning or prevent locking the doors if you leave the keys. Know this from second hand experience.
