Lol they had a reason to remove it. It wasn't just to piss customers off.

Bet it's either a constraint or slowing production. If it's wireless it has to be programmed to the truck. Bet you they want to remove that step more than they care about the cost.
if i had to guess it has more to do with the ALL OF THE ABOVE approach to increasing Mav production going forward. if i(Ford) offer this option than i need to punch the requisite hole(s) in the DR side door on some door panels but not others., and order different wireing harnesses with the needed connectors, that also means 2(very expensive) dies for my press machines but also introduces unwanted opportunities for putting the wrong door on the wrong vehicle. that kinda stuff slows down both the stamping plant and the final assembly plant. just stick the wireless version on the darn thing and be done. i would note that when you go to the Ford accessories site you can still get keypads from Ford ,just not as a option for your new build. we want more production and unfortunately this is what it looks like.

I was honestly a little disappointed that the Maverick got the old style glued on looking keypad instead of the new hidden keypad like the wife's Bronco Sport. Better than not having it but sure looks better hidden on the pillar.
couldnt agree more, my 2014 escape that i traded in was equipped with the "hidden" securi code pad and it was a far sleeker look. however that stuff adds up and if your goal is a low as possible price point compromises must be made. but i still contend that if your customers are willing to pay for what they want then my job is to keep selling it to them for a profit, isnt that what capatilisem is all about? i would suggest that Ford has an oppurtunity with the XL trim to own the low cost entry level vehicle market and then upsell the hell out of their lariat trim and make big buck$ off of those while the 'plain janes' bring the new folks into the Ford family. i would of NEVER switched the base engine from Hybrid to Ecoboost, but they're running the joint not me so i guess we'll see if this is the right call or not.

it may be slightly off topic but still keypad related . my daughter has a 2011 Escape that the dealer wants over $150 to recover and or reprogram the keypad. i seem to remember that it was always written somewhere on the vehicles. under the hood, inside the door panel but somewhere. can the community come thru for me once again? or will i just have to pay them.

I found it on my wife's 2020 Escape on a board under the passenger side console.

I use my keypad just about every day. Not having to run into the house and grab my key to get into my truck is super convenient. Head scratching move by Ford.

On my Mariner, Mercury's "Escape", center consol below the shifter there was an access panel, on a sticker I found the access code

It was great for kayaking and other outdoor watersports, being able to lock the keys within. But when you have an unacknowledged power fault that renders the keypad useless for entry, it becomes a liability.
In other words, I couldn't trust it for its intended purpose.

I have it on my 19 Fusion and have had on many of my previous cars. We use it all of the time without any issues. Disappointed that Ford wants to remove it from the 24 Maverick. My wife's 20 EcoSport has the intelligent access, but it is only convenient when you have the key with you or nearby. My daughters 16 Escape has both the keypad and intelligent access, she uses the keypad a lot. When I need to get in the car and don't have the key with me, the convenience is awesome. I volunteer at a prison frequently and I can't bring my keyfob in with me, the keypad is really helpful on those days.

It is hideous. I cannot believe people want this thing That being said, I do see how it could be convenient at the beach, but still not worth it. It's that damn ugly.
Not as hideous and damn ugly as the boring "beige" color you are so fond of.

I'm not sure if I follow... Are you talking about deep sleep, and if so, are you saying the keypad doesn't function if the truck goes into deep sleep?

No, the no-crank/no-start harness issue that requires opening the vehicle manually with a physical key and having to jump-start to get any power. It is related to the battery harness issue that two dealerships dismissed.

I did experience the "deep-sleep" during all of this (no interior lights), however the deep-sleep condition itself doesn't affect the keypad functionality, unless the 12V is depleted.
