Two points……..
1) Wife and I go out to run some errands. She does hers;
I do mine. Fob stays in the truck. Whomever gets back first just punches in the code and climbs in.
2) Keep in mind that just touching the door handle, while locking the door, does NOT arm the alarm. Hitting the bottom two buttons on the keypad does both.

Lol they had a reason to remove it. It wasn't just to piss customers off.

Bet it's either a constraint or slowing production. If it's wireless it has to be programmed to the truck. Bet you they want to remove that step more than they care about the cost.
if i had to guess it has more to do with the ALL OF THE ABOVE approach to increasing Mav production going forward. if i(Ford) offer this option than i need to punch the requisite hole(s) in the DR side door on some door panels but not others., and order different wireing harnesses with the needed connectors, that also means 2(very expensive) dies for my press machines but also introduces unwanted opportunities for putting the wrong door on the wrong vehicle. that kinda stuff slows down both the stamping plant and the final assembly plant. just stick the wireless version on the darn thing and be done. i would note that when you go to the Ford accessories site you can still get keypads from Ford ,just not as a option for your new build. we want more production and unfortunately this is what it looks like.
They also removed the feature from the 2023 Edge so it makes me think the feature is being discontinued and they're just slowly phasing it out the whole the Ford & Lincoln lineup. My wife has a 2022 Edge with the keypad and on that car it's the capacitive version which does look cool. But I don't mind the hard keys on the Maverick either. https://fordauthority.com/2022/08/2023-ford-edge-ditches-securicode-keyless-entry-keypad/

I've had it on Ford's that I've owned going back to my 1991 Thunderbird and although I don't use it as much now as I did in the 90's I still like having it & still find it useful.

I agree. It is hideous. My lariat Tremor just came in, and I kind of want to flip it and just order the 24 just so I don't have to have this piece of 1980s tech on my new truck. I cannot believe people want this thing on their truck in the year 2023, and the backlash really surprises me. And i can get the Terrain color if I wait.

Decisions, decisions.

That being said, I do see how it could be convenient at the beach, but still not worth it. It's that damn ugly.
It's funny for me to read this because I love the way it looks. I think I love anything that shows that my truck is loaded with all of the options. I like getting my vehicles with all options & gadgets possible. Plus for me this feature just screams Ford Truck! Plus I really do find it useful.

The keypad saved my ass. We were visiting my kids at school 300 miles from home and when I got out of the vehicle the door blew shut and locked with the engine running. After about 15 minutes of panic, I realized I could unlock the door via the keypad. Kept me from having to call a locksmith or mechanic. My relief was so profound I will never have another vehicle without it again.

That said I don't want to see the price go up, but if they stopped offering it as a factory feature and left it as a dealer add I'd RATHER have it be hard wired and never have to worry about a battery but I could live with it if the alternative is not to have it at all.

Ford will now be happy to sell you an aftermarket pad like Toyota has. Goes inside front window next to the driver's pillar and looks like :poop:.. Sorry!! Those who want it would pay the cost.
Wow, I never knew Toyota had that as an option. I think it's actually pretty cool. I still think Ford's version on the B-Pillar is better, especially the newest capacitive version on some of their newer vehicles. But Toyota's version still looks neat.

I put the code card for my Maverick in my wallet just in case I need it.
Just reprogram it to a number that's easy for you to remember and you won't have to carry the card. The original code will still work along with your new code.

Another fun fact. Nissan offered a very similar feature on the 2nd & 3rd gen Maxima. My Dad had a 1989 Maxima with the door keypad and it was very similar to Ford's version at the time. The Maxima version also allowed you to put the windows down after entering the code. I remember the code was 7 digits instead of the 5 digit code that Ford has always used.

Run that past me again, slowly this time...

Truck running. Key fob inside.

You get out. Doing so unlocks any door used to exit.

How does it get locked?

Door blows shut in wind.

Eh, they're discontinuing Edge/Nautilus altogether anyway to convert Oakville to a BEV plant soon...

Well that’s kind of the problem. It screams ford truck, 1982.

I use the keypad on my Maverick regularly, partly makes up for not having the smart key on the XLT.

I sometimes wonder if Ford and other OEM's throw these scenarios out there just to get attention. Kinda like the AM radio thing. Surely they wouldn't be so stupid to get rid of something many of their customers use/like? Hmm.... 50/50 there. Stupidity of all kinds is so rampant these days, nothing surprises me.....

I say keep the system. It's uniquely Ford, and most seem to prefer it. Personally, it's all I ever use. Fob went into the glovebox on day one, has never been out. Surely there are less divisive ways to save $5.

I've been at the beach the past few days with the rental F-150. I don't know its code and the lack of being able to use it has been a point of frustration as we have to keep track of the key while on the beach. Just one more thing to account for when it could simply live in the truck..

I stand by my position: it's $50 add-on for a $25,000 truck. There are other ways to save money that doesn't remove a uniquely Ford feature.

Also, keep in mind that if you leave your key in the vehicle and lock it with the keypad, the vehicle ignores that key completely unless you unlock the car with the code or the other key.

I sure there are people here who can tell you where you may find the code hidden in an F-150, just not me.

Must have bumped the lock button on the way out? I was in kind of hurry but forgot something. It was a in a bad neighborhood and I never left the truck unlocked when I got out, so I might have hit the button out of habit.

The point is there are situations where an external keypad can be very handy. I use it at home a lot to get stuff out of the cab when the keys are inside.
