@fordvideoguy mentioned last night that Ford is looking for feedback on the SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad removal from the Maverick.

Personally, I think it is a mistake. I have used the function multiple times with the Escape, especially when kayaking or hiking. It allows me to leave not only my keys, but the keys of my envious non-Ford friends locked and safe without having to worry about losing them. And as a $50 add-on, its not like Ford is breaking the bank by adding it. I even made sure it was included on the Maverick Lariat before I even placed an order.

The Keypad is quintessential Ford as I remember my grandparents having on their Taurus from forever ago. As a teen, I was constantly sent to go get something out of their vehicle by using the keypad. The Drive even accused GM of copying the tech. To not offer it at all on the Maverick, even on the Lariat, is a shame and Ford should reverse their course.

What are your thoughts, knowing that @Ford Motor Company will likely be reading this feedback? Should Ford keep/offer the SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad, even if it raised the price by $50-$100?

My Hyundai just has the button that opens the car when the fob is close, that should be enough.

I use it about once a week.

I love that it has been unchanged for 25 years.

But, you can add a battery powered one that looks identical pretty cheaply.

I think the battery one I had lasted darn near 10 years on the original battery.
They do make both wired and wireless versions but if you think the Maverick has the wired one when it's there from the factory, I bet you're wrong.

Two reasons. One, placement in the door. I've had my doors apart and didn't see a harness coming down from the b pillar. Could be there, though.

Except.. if you search any of the large Ford dealer accessory sites, you only find the wireless version for a Maverick. And if you find the part number for the wired unit used on F150 and SD trucks, then specify your vehicle is a Maverick, you get a notice that the part isn't compatible.

Thanks for posting about the battery life of the add on keypad. I've read a lot of posts that complain about not being able to replace the battery in those units that never stated how long the original battery lasted.

10 years may be just fine for some folks.

Stick with the tried and true, neat and tidy, always there when you need it, keypad.

IF IT AIN't BROKE, DON't FIX IT.
Lol they had a reason to remove it. It wasn't just to piss customers off.

Bet it's either a constraint or slowing production. If it's wireless it has to be programmed to the truck. Bet you they want to remove that step more than they care about the cost.

Caveat: it didn't always work in sub freezing in years 5+ but did when it warmed back up. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is one thing I will NEVER use. I honestly wish it was an add-on item that I could have denied.
You won't if you forget the code. You can change it either via the keypad OR the infotainment screen.

What's up with your face?
You got bad road rash.

I always have my key in my pocket or on me. I've never once needed the code, but I did program it anyways. I say that, but then again the Maverick seems to enjoy locking people out lol. And I have noticed that happening multiple times already - another reason to not leave your key in the vehicle. Pretty subjective though, considering FORD is still using ignition keys in 2023, but I can't recall when the last time I had one was... maybe 2006-2009 when I had my POS 3V 5.4L F150.

This face is AI generated. Here is what I really look like:

My only real world experience with the keypad is on our company F450. We leave the keys locked inside, whoever needs to use it just enters the code and doesn't have to go hunt down the keys. Now I want the keypad as others have mentioned for when I am boating, fishing or at the beach to reduce the risk of losing my keys to the ocean. Also hate having things in my pants pockets.

Talk about moving BACKWARDS.... geez.

You should know you can also get into almost any car with a blood pressure cuff. But who wants to carry that around???

I didn't say it was a good thing...lol, but it is how corporate America works, sometimes cutting off their own noses in spite of their faces( see Anheiser-Busch/ Bud Light....)

Heck Yes, keep it. If not standard, at least an option on any trim level. I will say, the newer style where the buttons don't stick out, like on my wife's expedition is a sleeker better implemented look

One of my most used features, and one of my favorite things about buying Fords. I'd trade the drop in bed liner and the remote start key fob from the XLT lux package for it. The fact that every Ford I've owned has had it, even on my old 2002 Taurus, has made it second nature to use. I use it more than I bother to fish my keys out when I have them, which I usually don't, because I usually just leave them in the center console, unless its raining.

If Ford is actually listening, I LOVE the keypad and really hope they reverse the decision to get rid of it.
