Very common on tires. So much so, that manufacturers almost all put out bulletins saying this is normal of radial construction. Many new vehicles have these indentations.

I've had our Maverick 3 months shy of two years now, have just under 13,000 kms on it now, and half that time on different rims and snow tires. Was just detailing the OEM Continental tires, noted depressions on the sidewalls on two tires. I don't think this a safety issue, and wonder if a dealer would consider this a warranty item? Dunno how well you can see it in the pics. Anyone else finding this on their XLTs?

Not on my maverick yet,but have had these on the Goodyear's that came with my ram for about 7 years now.does not seem to be an issue in any way.

I had to have mine replaced at 3,300 miles with cuts all over them and 3 flats. I live 1.5 miles down a maintained dirt road.

In living out here for 23 years I'd say this is the worst problem I've had with tires except for 1 set I slashed thru the carcass in the first week and traded for something else.

The divots correspond to the layers of rubber where they join and are vulcanized inside the tires. The dark bands below. Not a defect but visible because of how incredibly thin the sidewalls are. They feel like a bike tire.

You can see by the weight there is not much tire there. The 108 load range tires I replaced mine with weigh 34lbs each.

I would suggest anyone who plans to even pull these off clean pavement get them off and sell on FB Marketplace as new take offs.

I can't even sell mine because they are so cut up with 1 patch and 2 plugs in them :(

Could probably get $150 to $200ish selling locally on Kijiji. Good market here in the city for used tires. I've got Michelin IceX snow tires for both the Maverick and the wife's car, bought used, not much wear, saved big. Not much wear on my OEM tires, I drive pretty easy!

The Continentals are good for getting you down a dry highway. Not much else. Fortunately that's all I'm interested in.

Handling these tires unmounted is an eye opener. The area just off the tread as it transitions into the sidewall is extremely thin and flimsy. It feels like a hotel room vinyl curtain or a heavy shower curtain.
Yeah, they suck. I cant push a plug through because it keeps collapsing. I hate the idea wasting money by replacing them with something better, but then, seeing how thin the sidewall is, I have to question how safe these tires are....

Same on my own Continentals with 20k miles on them. Just cheap oem tires.

Depends on your use. For me running 3miles of dirt road daily they were unusable and cut to pieces at 3300 miles with 3 flats patched.

If running only paved roads you may get lucky and get to wear them out.
