WHY would Ford not have a locking gas cap on Maverick? It should be offered standard....or very least as an option. I would pay more the have a locking one.
Because none of the rest of us care about this lol you need the adapter from your rear door to syphon from it anyways since its the capless tankā€¦

Do you leave your truck unlocked because that is the only way for someone to open the filling door.

On the Hybrid you need to press a button in the cabin to depressurize the fuel tank which then opens the filler door.

So instead of being lazy and asking for a gas cap lock just lock the damn truck
Thatā€™s not the case for the eco boost. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Better question is why WOULD they, have to remember not everyone needs/desires such. So would it be worth Fords additional cost per unit to appease MAYBE 20% of customers? I'm 44 years old and have never had a need for such. Locking gas caps and lug nuts, etc are just a nuisance to me.

You need to press a button to open the gas fueling door and have a special funnel that fits the capless fueling hole because regular funnels don't fit in it. Someone probably wont go through that much effort to steal gas from a Mav.

Hybrid fuel door has a manual release in the wheel well.
They have an emergency release in the wheelwell. My regular release is in the cab close to the headlight switch...

Does anyone know if this is compatible with the Hybrid Maverick ?
In other words, on the Hybrid model will this :
(1) interfere with the locking mechanism ?
(2) interfere with any pressurization ?

Thank You

There has been a wave of gas theft in the Atlanta area, but thieves arenā€™t bothering to siphon out the gas. They drill holes and just collect it underneath. Thieves are not nice people

On the EB the fuel door does not lock at all. Also the fuel locker ford sells does not fit the maverick. I was just told by my dealership that the maverick does not have that part offered yet šŸ™ƒ

What's your trim option (XL, XLT, Lariat)? I think the Lariat has a locking gas door, don't know about the others. Maybe you could order parts to install a locking gas door on a trim package that does not have one.
I have the lariat and the way you open the gas door is push the door in and it pops open and no gas cap either.

I donā€™t know why anyone thinks a locking gas cap will prevent anything. A thief will find it much quicker and more convenient just to pop a hole in your plastic gas tank and let it drain into a pan.

When A tweaker finds a locked gas cap, he's more likely to punch a hole in the tank with a screwdriver than move on to the next vehicle.
