I used my wife's 2023 maverick recently and went to start it. Turned the key....no crank, dash indicators came on with no error code on screen. After several attempts with no crank it started normally, this is the first time this has happened. Anyone else experience this?

My '23 Tremor does this every now and then. A little annoying, but, I attribute it to my being to quick to turn the key - meaning I sometimes turn it to start the vehicle before the dash display even lights up - maybe the module that controls the ignition function needs a few seconds to actually recognize that the key has been inserted into the ignition???

When it acts up I just remove the key from the ignition, insert it again and wait until the dash display is done "booting up" then it starts without issue.

I don't know about anyone else, but my truck seems full of little electronic gremlins sometimes....

Don't the keys have codes that the vehicle recognizes? I ask because today we went for a ride and stopped a few places then stopped to walk the dog. I locked the doors. On the way back I clicked unlock on the key fob and the doors wouldn't unlock. I used the key to unlock the doors manually and got a message that said something about the vehicle alarm going and to stop it to put in key and turn car on. There was no alarm but I did just that and everything was fine.

Maybe the car didn't recognize the code from the key fob

Back in the day………
This is exactly the symptoms of a bad battery connection. Allows enough juice to light up the dash, but not enough to turn her over.
A tap on the terminal connections would usually alleviate the symptom until one could properly clean and re-seat them.

Yes the fob sends the transponder code over wireless to confirm the fob unlock is allowed.

Yours must not be a failed transponder, or the ignition wouldn't have seen it either, and the alarm would have gone off as it said it was about to.

If you want to recognize the alarm just in case, perhaps somewhere remote or not late - do the same thing, but don't turn the key until the alarm sounds.
Nothing worse than a neighbor late at night not seeming to recognize their own alarm and it going off for minutes on end.
Don't be that neighbor.
And don't let dog chew on fob!

Same. Every few months I experience the same thing. The first time it happened I took it in and shocking said no one, it couldn't be replicated. The battery was fine.

Just last Saturday it happened. Insert key, everything lights up as it should but upon final turn, nothing. No sound. No nothing. Take out the key and try it one or two more times and it fires up. I will say the key is not tight in the cylinder at all and every few months I must clean the key as it gets all boogered up from use. Since then, my ocd has been triggered and I have gone to the driveway and started it with my key multiple times and like past events, it's good.
