I just used it on mine ('24 Hybrid XLT Lux). So I put the key in and start, and the AC turns off. The engine also turns off due to switching to battery power. Then the AC kicks in again. It could very well be the Auto-Stop/Start, though when using my other car's remote start (Corolla Cross), the engine does not shut off, and it also has an auto-stop/start function.
I also just tried the Corolla again and it did turn off the engine when I got in the car after doing remote start, before pressing Push Button Start. Manual says it's expected behavior for Toyota.

Makes sense so no on can jump in after remote start and drive away. It says to turn key to on position to drive right on my little screen, but it shut off engine. I did edit a post above that it worked this time when I tried it but instead of turning key to on, I went a little further almost as if I were going to start the car, but stopped just before and it kept running. the engine didn't shut off. So I wonder if I just wasn't turning key far enough.

Bingo. That is probably it. Position I only gets you accessories. Position II is where you need to be to drive away.

I have been lurking on these forums for several months and it was this place that convinced me to order my Maverick back on April 9th, 2024. I received it on July 27th, 2024 so a little less than four months is not bad. I do have a question about the remote start feature. This is what I have done and you will see my possible problem, if it is a problem. I have also tried to search here and online and did find some information but it wasn't too helpful. And some of the stuff it mentioned I checked already.

I used the Fordpass app and the key fob to remote start the car. It starts fine and runs with no problems. After a couple minutes both times I walked to the vehicle and the doors were locked, so I used the key fob to unlock the driver side door only the first time. The second time I used the key fob and unlocked all the doors. I then climbed into the vehicle and all that time it was running. I put the key in the ignition and turned it to the ON position and the engine then shut off. I can't imagine that is normal.

I have checked the battery which is putting out 12.5 volts when off, and it's 14.44 when it's being charged by the alternator. There are NO lights on the dashboard indicating a check engine light or any other issue. I have about a little more than a 1/4 tank of gas. The oil is full.

Question is am I doing something wrong with the remote start? Probably not, as the vehicle did start. Am I supposed to use the actual key to open the door and not press the button to unlock it? Is this normal behavior? Am I supposed to turn the key quickly which I believe would be two clicks? Someone suggested elsewhere it might be not enough gas in tank, but that makes no sense as vehicle runs and it only stops when I put key into on position.

Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!
You used the app AND the fob both to remote start it? Confused.....

Sounds like a software glitch which I have had with my 2022 Maverick. My Ford dealership has been at my house twice for the upgrades which is nice at no charge. You might call your dealership service department.

That's a great thought! I will try it later and before putting key in ignition I'll disable the auto start/stop and see if that makes a difference. I'll post how it goes.

EDIT: I could not turn off the auto start stop button but I remote started it this time and put the key in and turned it and it worked. It kept running.

Don't know what I did. The other times I would put key in and click it to the ON position and that was it. This time I went a little further than the ON position, almost like I was going to start it again, but I let it go just before that and it kept running. Maybe that's the trick. I don't know...
Good morning.
I see you have figured it out. You have to turn the key pass the ON position. Welcome to the Maverick family.

I tried remote starting it the first time with the app to see what it would do. Then I put key in and the engine shut off when I turned it to the ON position.. So the next time I did the remote start I tried it with the fob to see if would make a difference, it started fine, but once again the engine shut off when I inserted the key and turned it to the ON position..

I have done it a few more times since i have posted. It shut off a couple and one time it stayed on. Dont' know what the situation is.

I think that's what helped. I can remember twice doing that and it kept running. So I can only guess, but not sure. It's not a major deal. My wife will remote start her Toyota and the minute she opens the doors, even with the key fob, the car shuts off. So I figure if I do use the remote start and put key in and it shuts off, I'll just start it again. But at least it would have been running a few minutes to warm up or cool down.

I am going to have them look at it when it goes in for an oil change.

It is normal when you enter the vehicle while it is in remote start and pot the key in the ignition for it to shut off the display even tells you that. Simply start the vehicle with the key like you normally do.

I have never so much as sat in a hybrid, so I am not sure how they are set up, but that is absolutely not true when it comes to EcoBoosts.

If my truck has been remote-started and is running, I put the key in, turn it to "on" and drive away. Sometimes the HVAC fan will pause for a bit, but not always. The engine does not stop in any way.

Sounds like to me it’s the same regardless of model except the hybrid is running on battery or engine if it’s required. The hybrid doesn’t engage the engine unless the load requires it but once you turn the key on it off you go.

I wasn't sure if I should update this or not as it's not a big deal as I'm sure no one else has this issue, especially because it's my stupidity. And it'll make me look like an idiot.

Here we go. I went to the dealer last Wednesday to have some rust proofing and fabric protection etc. I told him how the car shut off when you turn the key and he jumped in after remote starting and put the key in the on position. I said see it shut off and then he put the car in reverse and backed up.

I said I thought the engine shut off, he said no what happened is when you remote started it's hot So the air kicked on high to cool it. When the key is put in the on position the vehicle goes back to your auto settings which I have the fan set lower. So what I was hearing was the fan going from high to a lower setting and that's why I thought the car was shutting off cuz the fan stopped. The engine is so damn quiet that I can't even hear it so I was basing it on the air conditioning fan.

Since then I have done several remote starts, put key in and driven away.

I'm really not as dumb as this 😂

I was also amazed at how quiet the engine was. The engine was as quiet as some Hondas.
I rented a U-Haul before I bought my hybrid. I knew the U-Haul was going to be an EcoBoost. I rented it to see whether I like the way it rode, how easy it was getting in and out of.
At least you found out what the problem was.
Stay safe and take care.
