The bad part of the block heater is if you did not purchase a truck with it.

I don't think you can add a factory one after. It was a no brainer at 90 bucks on the option list. It definitely helps. Warmish air immediately when starting in the morning.

For hot I assume it's just when you're ready to go. But if it were the morning you could have it start at mnultiple times every morning via the scheduled start feature.

You can add it anytime your 2.5 is out of the truck. I did not think it would be usable near Austin Texas but would be nice to have below 35°F.
