Good morning fellow hybrid mavericks. I bit the bullet and replaced my 12V battery because my truck would occasionally be dead in the morning and I would have to jump the 12V to get the car to turn on. Anyhow changed it out last Sunday and at 3am this morning, three days later, got a notice from my ford app that it went to sleep mode. Are there any modules i need to turn off such as WIFI or anything I can do to check where the electricity drain is coming from?

My add-ons are I have two amps powering my sub and speakers, I have a blackvue dashcam that's powered at the fuse box passenger side. I don't have my dashcam running while in park due to battery drain. Getting annoyed, I may need to take it to the dealer but I feel like they always give me the run around. Just want to check and do it myself if possible.

Put a good charger/maintainer on under hood pins and when it's fully charged run the new battery installed up to 8hour with truck locked and no door opened or anything with everything radio, lights, dash cam, etc turned off. (Procedure in manual). The bms will use the charged voltage and determine battery type and Charging parameters. Its apparently possible that the bms is charging new battery using parameters of the old battery in it deteriorated condition. Manual mentions that the 8 hour battery learn may or may not have to be done after using an external charger! This implies that the smart bms may lower the soc as a battery ages and needs to be reset when new battery installed.

Anyone else feel this BMS is a POS?

BMS has been around for ~13 years.
I don't think Deep Sleep has been around for that long at least at the levels we see now. FordPass came out in 2015? and saw somewhere in here Ford's battery supplier sold off that business not that long ago.

New SSM showed up on the nhtsa website for 23s.
Do DTCs show up anywhere where owner is aware or are the internally stored and only visible by dealer / forscan.

Thanks for that.

This is problematic if intermittent though. Such as a crack or loose connection that can flex to connect sometimes and not others.

Normally I would say "jumper it" to see if the problem goes away but... 300A is a little tricky.

You could jumper it with something small like a 5 Amp or something. If it never blows, the big fuse is not the issue. If it does blow, then this IS the issue.

Fuses in parallel will be cumulative.
So don't put two 300A in parallel. That would be 600A and you'd potentially fry your system.

But adding a 5 amp would be just 305 amps total. Safe and sane.
The little guy will pop like a fire cracker in a micro second. Just use heavy wire gauge either side of your 5 amp fuse so you don't overheat any wire.
🤷🏻‍♂️

DTCs don't clear so if one is stored but issue is intermittent with hot/cold it would at least give some indication.

If you do take it in disconnect your dashcam and amps. They will blame it on them for sure.
Problem is even when disconnected they will still likely blame them.
I guess tell the service writer you disconnected them and it did not help the problem.
I had the same problem and it was a dealer added alarm that drained the battery overnight.

that fuse is a $70 part if Im looking at the correctly.
With the right procedures in place I dont see this being a hard job at all.
Not saying anyone should mess with it, but.....

Thanks for this... I'm gonna give this a shot tonight. Hopefully there's still good voltage on the battery. I highly doubt my battery is drained.

Probably so.

Some clear themselves after so many drive cycles without the problem reoccurring.

Gimme a break truck is computerized and reports status to Ford every time you ready it to drive. Everything that happens since last time truck reported status to ford whether six times a day or once a week is sent to Ford. It is possible that tech could see what your 12v soc was hour by hour depending on how often truck checks it in the middle of night. To hide from Ford your dash cam would have to have its own separate battery particularly if it uses power when truck is not in ready mode. I don't lose sleep at night but I can see three Ford engineers talking about this guy In Texas who plays the slots from 2-3 AM five nights a week on his trucks wifi! 🤗

I don't know if the tech can see all that, I kind of doubt it. That is A LOT of data for Ford to store on their servers for how ever many days/weeks/months.
I can tell you they kept my truck overnight for 3 days to find the draw from the alarm.

For what it is worth, I have a Ham radio directly connected to the 12V battery under the seat. Several times I had forgotten to turn it off after parking in the garage. The control head is in the middle of the dash. The repeater it is set on has very little activity. I have discovered that even after 2 days of sitting, It started. The truck started with no problems and no warnings or other signs of a low battery. The truck is a 22 Lariat with all the bells and whistles except for a sun roof. It looks like I was fortunate enough to get a good one with no problems after a year.
