That's a bit of a misconception though, because the older members of a generation aren't typically raised by the prior generation. In many cases, older Gen X like myself and many of my peers were raised by The Silent Generation, just as many older Millennials were raised by Boomers. It's not a likely case that people currently 43 years old were raised by Gen X. Not as likely as being raised by Boomers...
I have three girls all in their mid-40’s now and (due to twins) a total of 15 months between them. Pretty much raised them in parallel. Yet they are totally different from each other. It’s like young people develop their own personalities sometimes.

So why do the videos on MPG wait 10 seconds and the stop at the second click? I'm pretty sure there is a little room to round off but is certainly bad if you go until the pump will not add gas. Maybe my OCD is showing but I like to round off to the nearest 5 cents. And no, I do not use cash (I refuse to stand in line twice).
I found I can get another gallon if I take one click then wait 10 seconds before running again on a fast-flowing pump. Single click seems fine on a slow pump.

Good point. I've never been a fan of stereotyping generations and their actions. When people bring subjects like this up, it makes me cringe a bit. Personality characteristics and actions aren't as clear-cut by generational boundaries as some would like to believe.

Good point on flow rate, I do the auto-hold on slowest.
QT's slow down even more when you do the next auto-hold - absolutely no need for going past 2nd click.
Some other stations though are rather fast even on slowest auto-hold - can just hear the sloshing.
When I hear that on the auto-hold, I'll usually do a manual with slower if it'll do it.

But I have heard 1 pump somewhere that must have had a sensor before click-off, and it did slow down. Traveling somewhere, don't recall. Nice idea.

In Oregon it is illegal to top off. Not kidding. The business that owns the pump faces a $500 fire code violation fine. Even if it is a self-serve customer who tops off! The car owner who is pumping his own gas faces no fine! Rarely do I do self-serve. Which happens to be something fairly new in Oregon, started in 2023. But half the pumps must be non-self-serve, and the price must be the same. Prior to that self-serve was illegal. The voters voted self-serve down numerous times, then the politicians just did it on their own. The station owners were screaming they need self-serve because they were having trouble finding help to pump gas, allegedly. ☮

Between filling with gas, or emptying the outhouse?

🤔

I had no idea that spacecraft could be run on diesel fuel...
Yes, and it's great bundling for the station.

At interstellar distances, diesel engines need so much urea, that everyone has to get two or three Bladder Busters to be able to do their part!

🤭

I NEVER leave my keys in it, running or not.
I tried that, but it made it too hard to get anywhere . . .

🤦‍♂️

So, we started with not pumping gas after the nozzle clicks and now we're on Saudi family values.
hey, those extra clicks are how the Saudis pay for their kids' school activities!

Here in Nevada we got these 👇 you aren't hearing anything.
Even in the cow counties?
(Now that I think of it, it's been some years since I've been in any Nevada county besides clark; I'm either going to Northern California or southern Arizona when I leave town)

The local Costco had several pumps that would click off early in response to any other pump clicking off.
It's solidarity. They're union!

I always wait 30 seconds and pump some more. To allow the gas to settle into the tank. They tend to shut off a little early, though I usually only get about 3/10 to half a gallon more in. Been doing it that way for many years and have yet to have an evaporator issue.

Why would pumping gas cause issues with your air-conditioner? (Evaporator is what makes the air get cold.)
