Imagine how much shorter these threads would be if the first person who knew the answer actually answered the question.
But the answer is that the driver gets to determine the slot's purpose.

Ok people I figured it out, I put everything in the right place but was hitting the wrong ‘search’. Sorry 4 getting so many pissed off at the others that tried to help!
Glad you got it figured out.

Now your job is to pay it forward and spread the word that the forum actually has a search function.

No….. the driver does NOT get to determine the purpose. The dang thing was put there as a “credit card holder” or “card slot”. That’s what it was intended to be ….that that’s what it is….and that’s what it always will be. You don’t get to determine what your steering wheel is… or what your tires do, etc. 🥴🥴🥴

We have people on this forum who put a weight on their steering wheel so they don't have to put any effort into driving. Anything that fits in the slot is clearly permissible.

My 2022 lariat has a mystery slot behind the gearshift knob. Does everyone have this? What the heck is it for?
It's a place to put a parking pass or your credit card while waiting in a drive thru. I use it a lot.

Imagine how dull this site would be if everybody limited themselves to simple answers that the OPs could have answered if they RTFM.

Thermal exhaust port 6mm wide.
Uhm . . . anyone know if Nevada mosquitos carry proton torpedos?

take warning, everyone: @drof put his parking stub there, and Ford came out and repossessed this maverick!

But.... But ..... what about the squid launcher button...?
same thing. A team is out right now to repossess yours for launching squid from the jellyfish launcher. Just plain not acceptable!
