So, I'm curious, when the MY23 order bank opens next month, what percentage of dealers do you think will be honest about the estimated wait time for your shiny new Maverick?

"I'll be happy to place a custom order for you, but I doubt you'll see the truck for a year. Maybe 8 months if you hit the scheduling lottery. Maybe 15 months if you have constraints."

Yeah, that sounds like a great way to drum up business. People are just going to walk away and go to the competition if they are told that, right?

So, what's a dealer to do?

So how do you expect a dealer to give you an accurate ETA when the company themselves can’t? What’s your point?

I think we all know at this point the wait for a Mav is roughly a year, give or take. My point is that dealers need to be up front and just tell people that. Hopefully it helps avoid some of the frustration and disappointment so many of us have experienced this year.

I’m not defending dealers but I honestly don’t think most of them will know. When I ordered mine in October, even Tim was confident every MY22 would be built by April.

Ford sold the most vehicles of all automakers this past quarter. The industry as a whole was down 24% I read somewhere.

I'm sure everyone is going to another brand and driving a vehicle off the lot..... as if there are any vehicles on those lots anyhow.

Its a roll of the die tbh. My experience ordering on the last day for a EB is on the other end of the spectrum as someone who ordered day 1 and hasn't got scheduled yet.
Best thing dealer can do is relay as much factual info they can to a prospective orderer.

Most important is that ford closes the banks sooner so they aren't left unfulfilled. I mean they could reopen them if production meets demand but playing it safe this year might yield better results. then again for them...$$$$$ is always more important.

Perception and expectations are altered when inputs change; last September my salesman said it’d be 9 months, minimum, w/o any glitches or supply chain issues. I mentally rounded up to 1 year, which is about what will (hopefully) happen.

Conversely, I wouldn’t have believed him if he’d said “6 months”, especially if there was a whiff of “tell ‘em what will get the order” in the air.

For the 2023, targeting 1 year (or 12 months, or 365 days…whichever sounds better) as a base timeline, w/o glitches or supply chain issues, is a reasonable timeline that’s honest, based on 2022. If it’s 11 months = yea! Under promise and over deliver still works.

Easy prediction: September 15 will be another fire drill session and there will still be clueless Dealers disregarding the importance of ROVP (and shame on Ford for having 2 acronyms that serve the same function. Dumb.)

October 1 is the new O/U to drive my Lariat off the lot,no one’s taking the under. Halloween?

Going be very difficult for them to say. Your best bet is going with dealer who has many allocations to them. How you find that out its going take some research maybe @fordvideoguy can help with that? I know PA is kinda far from KY but hes well know dealer obivously. I would go with him if you cant find big dealer who is fair and honest near by you.

The point is Ford SHOULD know. It is their brands reputation that is on the line.

My sales guy told me February….it is now August and expect to see my order in 2023. Don’t understand the point being made.

How could they know?
They don’t control every point of the supply chain.
If they are expecting a part delivery on a specific date and schedule trucks to be built. However the supplier of that part doesn’t deliver on that date. Instead the supplier delivers 4 weeks later.
Ford just got a 4 week delay they can’t control on all vehicles they scheduled.

I’m not getting your point, as it’s impossible to know that information.

Being a person in a business that is affected by the supply chain, I feel the burden.

My business is also affected. However I know within a estimated date range when I can deliver product to my customers. Hiding behind “supply chain issues” is the “go to” for poorly run companies
