I’ve been on a roadtrip the last few weeks. I’m in Iowa visiting mom, and hop in the truck and get this:
Ford Maverick My truck is now an EcoBrick IMG_6656

The truck won’t start, can‘t shift, nothing. I disconnected the battery for a while to try to reboot the system, but I’m still locked out. I had an oil change and recalls 24S24 and 24S27 done at Granger Ford. Not blaming them. Any dealer I happened be near would have got the job. I’ll be calling them in the morning. I was supposed to be on the road today, making my way back home. I’ll get it sorted and just be a couple days delayed hopefully.

I read through the threads on this issue. Interesting. Not complaining, just adding to the general information about the truck.

That sucks, I know you will keep us updated. I have little use for the electric parking brake.
I know the handle took up space, but I like a manual pull handle brake. I never cared much for the pedal style parking brake.
Stay safe

@G19Tony hopefully Granger gets you fixed up and back on the road soon. Sorry you have to deal with the frustration in the meantime. Soak up the extra time with your mom.

1. Check your battery voltage and charge if needed.

Same error on Broncos, F150, etc.

It appears to be battery voltage based on comments from this YouTube video.

Great idea! I went out to check, and I can’t open the hood. The handle just has freeplay. It’s going to be one of those weeks, I guess.

YouTube to the rescue. Lol.

You need to pull the handle twice to open the hood. That is why it has an x2 next to it.

Pull it once, Pull it twice and the hood will open.

I used the jump box and got the truck going. I’m going to take it to Granger in the morning and get a new battery. This issue was a good thing. I had to take mom to urgent care for back pain from a kidney issue. She’s ok, but she was in some pain. I’m going to get back on the road in a couple days. I’m glad I was here.

I wonder if the recall caused the battery to croak?

@G19Tony while I'm sorry to hear your mom wasn't feeling well, I'm glad you were there to look out for/after her.
Silver lining to the no start issue for sure.
I hope recalls don't kill batteries, but stranger things have definitely happened.
Hope your mom feels like her normal self soon!

Thank you. I hope the recall isn’t killing the batteries either. First question I’m going to ask.

Recall wouldn't cause your battery to drain. All it did is change some variables in the computer. You might have simply lost the battery lottery.

Question: Up until the failure was the A.S.S. operative even if you choose to not use it? The failure of the A.S.S. system was my indication my battery was failing basically from Day One. (It quit working never to return on Day Three). Just wondering. Thanx.
