Sold my Maverick back in May of 2022, bought a first gen tacoma with 200k miles instead.

The Maverick spent 4 out of the 6 months I've owned it either broken down or at the dealer.

The Tacoma spent 0 days broken down or at a mechanic/dealer.

Lesson learned, never buy American vehicles. I'd rather get 20mpg and a Truck that doesn't break down.
Didn't those first generation Tacomas have that head gasket recall? lol

That's impressive and what I expect from today's vehicles. I assume it was a turbo also. Did you do anything special during your ownership or have any undue repairs?
I changed the oil every 10,000 miles with full synthetic and every other tank of 87 octane i used additives. Never had any issues other than the shuddering because of carbon build up in the turbo. Fuel system cleaning from dealer fixed the problem. I drove her pretty hard too.

Was this procedure very invasive and costly?
It was $199.00 and took 2 hours. Had coolant flushed and changed at the same time. Paid $315 out the door for both.

The only problem is that the 2.0 Ecoboost is direct injected, gas never touches the valves so it has nothing to do with gas. It also doesn't really have to do with blow by gasses as much as it does oil seeping through the valve guides and then caking up into a giant ring on the valve stem. Carbon build up in the piston rings could be affected by fuel quality but it's really more a byproduct of oil burning but that's another maintenance discussion in and of itself.
So it seems that having some detergent gas in the intake might keep valves cleaner.
I read somewhere that some current engines use a combination of throttle body and direct injection. Maybe Ford needs to sell a magic fluid To spray intakes at every oil change.

I believe Ford has dual injection on their 2.7 and larger engines so far. This technology has apparently solved the carbon build up problem. I know Toyota, Hyundai/KIA, and higher end vehicles also are now using some version of this solution to the carbon problem. Too bad the EB 2.0 still does not have it, the Santa Cruise does. If you have direct injection only, you would still need access to your intake valves directly to Garner any real help from a valve solvent cleaner. A fuel additive for this is of little value.
