Sorry for the late reply on this. They updated the PCM software again. I am not sure of the specifics regarding the update, but my assumption would be that they received new direction from Ford because the last time I brought it in they had no idea how to fix it and this time they updated the software the same day I brought it in.
Awesome!! No need to apologize for a late reply. You got a life outside of this forum!! Glad to hear you are back on the road. I think I'm lucky as this recall seems to be for 2022 Hybrids and up to middle of 2023. My build was August of 2023 an my recalls didn't include any emissions or PCM recalls.

Just got a call from the Koons dealer. They fixed my 2022 Hybrid Lariat that's been there for eight days today. They think it was the Smart junction box that they replaced. They drove it for 70 miles with no issues and hope this fixes it. I hope so to and will let everyone know when I do, say sometime in May or so after some long trips driving 70+.
I posted my experience in the transmission forum. Has anyone had their powertrain disengage... It happened to me on March 9th, and about 2 weeks after having the two recalls dealt with. I'll update that post and mention this here.

This happened again on April 16th. So what I noticed is that this only happened to me when I have been driving for about 2 hours and while on slightly to very hilly highways. I think this didn't happen on my return trip home since, out of paranoia, I would make a point to stop completely once an hour. All for the sake of safety I also took the forgotten and much more rural and mountainous highways of West Virginia so I could avoid as many other drivers as possible. No issues.

So the take-home is that, at least for my 2022 hybrid, the only chance to reproduce the issue is if they drive or simulate on the rollers a 2-hour+ drive in the mountains. I sincerely hope the latest PCM update is enough to resolve all this.

Had my 2023 for 13 months, 11k miles. First 1yr was 10k miles with zero issues. Got my 10k service done 3/1/24 where 3 recalls were applied, main culprit being the 23P18 PCM recall.

Since then my gas engine has shuddered while turning off about 5 times (never done that before 3/1/24).

On 3/23/24 the truck went into limp mode while on the highway with an engine light and Ford Pass service required message. Was able to wait a couple hours and get the truck back home (was 70 miles into a short road trip). This issue self cleared on 3/25/24.

I’m now also noticing a shake during hard acceleration that is getting worse and worse since yesterday. The truck is going back to Ford this Friday and I have to rent something for my kid’s spring break trip to FL. No loaners anywhere but I can get $60 per day rental reimbursed but I must rent a Ford.

I hate to think about selling it but I've owned so many power train/driver-train trouble free new and well used vehicles over the last 25 years. I really hope they can get my Maverick back to normal.

I have been driving my Maverick for 40 days and the mileage is 940. Over the last two days I have had a couple of weird things happen. On May 1st, I was putting in some new floor mats and I look at the controls and the lights were on. No key with me at the time. Yesterday, I was getting ready to go to the store and had the Maverick running with the parking brake engaged. Got out of the truck just long enough to put a couple of bags in the back seat and in less than 60 seconds the doors locked me out of the truck. I think there are too many things being computer controlled these days. Some features are best left to the driver to control. Overall, I like the truck but I think this computer thing has gone too far.

That's on a 24 ?

I recall there was another member who found their running as well. Cant recall if it was eco or hybrid.

Yes, that is on a 24 XL Ecoboost. What I was saying was I left the truck running for a few seconds and the truck locked me out with the keys in the ignition. If I had been away from home, I guess I would have had to call a locksmith to get in the vehicle. The other time the headlights came on with no key in the ignition.

My saga continues driving my Maverick hybrid to NY to visit my mom for Mother’s Day hoping that the new Battery/Smart Junction Box that my Ford Dealer replaced on 4/9 was the culprit in the shutdowns experienced on 3/28.

5/10/24 Maverick shutdown 3x driving on the highway at around 70 mph during a 400-mile trip. Had to wait approx. 20 minutes each time for the engine to cool off and reset from electric mode to continue on. NY Ford dealer diagnosed on 5/13 and reports: U1010 is present , Hybrid Powertrain Control Module is suspected to be bad. They said it would take a few days to get a new PCM from the Ohio warehouse. I couldn’t wait and had to return to MD for work on 5/14.

5/13/24 Shutdown 4x driving on highway around 70 mph during 400-mile return trip. Had to wait approx. 20 minutes each time for the engine to cool off and reset from electric mode to continue on. Fortunately, there were no accidents, and I was always able to find a safe spot on the side of the road to pull over to and wait for 20 minutes or so.

5/14/24 Received Ford Safety recall notice 23S27 for Software to repair 2022-2023 Mavericks to update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) free of charge (parts and labor). Note NY Ford Dealer recommended replacing PCM vs. repairing or updating it. Is there a definitive way to test which is best, replace or repair? I'm bringing it back to my local MD Ford dealer to see what they say and hopefully fix it for good!

5/21/24 Dealer reports issues fixed by updating BCM and PCM software for recalls, 23s27 UNDER HOOD FIRE, 24527 BODY CONTROL MODULE BCM SOFTWARE UPDATE, and 24s33 POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PCM SOFTWARE UPDATE, the one I and many others are hoping fixes the problem with our engines shutting down. Time and long trips, 200+ miles will tell.

7/4/24 FYI my 2022 Hybrid Maverick was fixed by 24S33 on 5/21/24. I have driven two 400-mile trips without shutting down as it did nine times prior to getting the PCM software update for 24S33. I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July, and thank those who helped Ford and NHTSA with info. to get this fixed.
