A big plus is people will see Velocity Blue from 1/2 a mile away...Right color this time.

If you can't see a school bus yellow truck🤷‍♂️
It doesn't seem color is much of a deterrent. When somebody is looking at their phone, instead of the road. 😔
In late August, I was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight. I wasn't hurt, but the crumple zones did their jobs and sacrificed themselves. I got notified that it was totaled last week. 8900 miles. Once the insurance wrangling is done, it's off to Dovi Motors in Cortland, NY to order a '25. I only wish that Cyber Orange was still available!

Glad the OP is OK!! Glad you were able to get a replacement at no cost or close to it. As far as the moron who caused all this, it pisses me off to no end when I see these jackholes get away virtually scot free.

I totally flunked an "Agility Test" at a roadside spot check on New Year's Eve Day a few years ago. I am uncoordinated plus had a sore foot from working in the woods. I was all over the road both lanes trying to do the one foot in front of the other. LOL. I was stone cold sober as I do not drink alcohol. They told me to get out of here. LOL.

Glad you're okay and the result of the accident was only a truck color change and an insurance cost increase in the area.
In bad weather, conditions are only as safe as the other drivers on the road with you.

Many decades of riding motorcycles on interstates have taught me to assume that other drivers are idiots who will do incredibly stupid things, and the moron who caused the accident you were in shouldn't be allowed on the road, but that experience likely taught them there are no consequences. Who needs a license or insurance if it isn't enforced? Not the guy who hit you.

If someone drinks and drives, doesn't have insurance, and has a suspended license the driver gets a shiny new set of bracelets and a free hotel room with bars and their car would be impounded in Arizona.
Poor law enforcement has consequences.
The guy who got away was free to cause more grief. That's the sad part of the story.

A couple weeks ago we had our first and only snow event this year and I was driving home on I90 in the left lane with other traffic when this guy in a Honda Odyssey blows past in the right lane doing at least 20 mph faster than everyone else. The snow is coming down and there are slushy patches on the road but they are relatively clear but the temp is about 35F.

I go around a long bend and can just see something happening up ahead. The guy lost control and came spinning across the highway and I think he bounced off one of the guard rails. He manages to come to a stop (I think) in the middle lane facing me at a 45 degree angle and as I'm slowing I'm thinking I'll manage to get by him as there is no way to stop in time. The dufus then decides it is a good idea to try and attempt to turn around to go forward by driving into my lane and right into me. Turned this into my first ever air bag deployment incident with the steering wheel, knee, and right side curtain bags deploying and destroying my right front corner.

Not only was this guy driving in an unsafe manner in a snow storm but as it turns out he had no insurance (illegal in WA) and he was driving on a suspended license and had enough of an alcohol smell on his breath that I could smell it from a few feet away. For some reason the trooper let him go, she did say she ticketed him for the lack of insurance at least.

Luckily I ended up with just one little scratch. My insurance company ended up totaling it (damage was worse than it looks in the pic) and I didn't even know that they would replace if less than one year old as part of my general collision policy so no depreciation or additional tax & tags. I'm bummed I couldn't find any left over Eruption Green Hybrid Lariat's anywhere so ended up driving to a dealer 250 miles away and picked up a '26 Velocity Blue one as I couldn't find anything I liked closer!

Glad you are ok. I like the green but could not handle it with a blue interior. Velocity blue was my first choice and got lucky with what I was able to purchase.

I love Eruption Green. You're right that color combination was a little hard on the eyes. 😖

Everyone is gonna hate me now.

NBMAV, you are partially at fault for the accident. All I know is what you wrote. Based on that:

“He manages to come to a stop (I think) in the middle lane facing me at a 45 degree angle and as I'm slowing I'm thinking I'll manage to get by him as there is no way to stop in time.”

I would say you were driving too fast for the conditions since you saw the accident from a ways back, You mentioned the long bend in the road so you could see a ways. And you failed to avoid the dangerous situation and instead tried to drive through it Even though you had no malicious intent.

Simply being present on the freeway during a snow storm puts you in harms way.

Like I said, everyone is gonna hate me and I’m just stirring the pot for no good reason.

The upside is I’m glad you got a new truck but YOUR insurance had to pay for it since the dufus had no insurance. Sorry about that.

Hate, just for stating your Viewpoint or opinion of a situation that could possibly be viewed in different ways. Not me. I don't call it pot stirring if it motivates folks to think outside their comfortable box.
This is where dash cams really come in handy. Especially if they have GPS speed displayed. It's really hard to argue with video.

I really like my Mav, I like it so much I can live with the fact that if I Fart too hard I could total it.
Unibodies, who wouldda thunk.

On my 2024 Eco Lariat I added an extra to my auto insurance policy.
For the first Five years if I total my Maverick for any reason I get a current year new never titled replacement of the same trim at no cost other than my $500 deductible.

This policy addition cost me $60 per year.
Yep, chump change.

No worries about totaling a four year old Maverick and only getting the used value.

I will trade up before that policy option ends.

The odd thing to me is I’ve spoken of this many times and not a soul in here has ever said. “Yep, I got that coverage also”

Erie Insurance. Farley is the Agency.
But you’re going to be sad when times up Cherokee on your current Mav cause I don’t think you’ll ever find another as trouble free as this one!

I'd be pissed for the policeman not checking for alcohol...and have reported it and told the cop on site. Next time the driver might kill someone.

One of my customers got his 6th DUI's and ended up with a 1 year prison sentence on his last offense. Not employed with no income and no mortgage payments, lost his home, truck and successful business.. and eventually wife and kids.
We need to adopt stricter laws.
"

Key Trends in Strict DUI Laws:
  • Zero Tolerance: Countries like Brazil, Argentina, and many Eastern European nations (e.g., Romania, Czechia) have a 0.0% BAC limit.
  • Vehicle Forfeiture: In countries like Costa Rica and France, police can seize and sell your vehicle for a first offense."

Sorry to hear. Yes you should have pressed the cop to do a field sobriety on him and say you wanted to press charges for something being that he had no license or insurance.
Hope the new blue is good to you 😁

The only reason I think he stopped is that I have video that shows that's what it looked like. I was maybe going 45-50 in a 70 which was fine for conditions (lived in MA & NH for over 20 years so I know how to drive in snowy conditions). I also did not see the accident from a ways back, again that only showed up on video with some squinting. By the time I came around the bend where I could see him he was already driving into my lane right at me. In that situation it doesn't matter if it was wet or dry, I had no where to go.

That was tooo close. Glad you’re OK and insurance is good. Too bad with the color change, but is the new one any different on the options side?
I went with the Lariat again but never really wanted the BAP and sunroof but that was all I could get at the time. This time I was able to get the blue one without those so even with the 2026 price increase it was still a little less.
