Planning for failure by 100,000kms seems valid to me

Most people having CV issues and vocal about it appear to be in first 20k...

Idk if that should be "planned for"

Too many people here think that the maverick is the best thing since sliced bread and because it's a"cheap" truck issues should be expected and welcome.

Considering the popularity of the Maverick it won't be long before some performance mod company offers beefed up axles. Plus if the problem persists, Ford will incur the wrath of the NHSA as a failing drive system will certainly fall under their recall umbrella. Further I like my truck so well after the warranty is over I'd consider replacing the factory axels with better ones at my expense.

I had a '22 Lariat EB I purchased of the lot for +$1800 ADM as a place holder for my ordered Lariat hybrid which arrived as an early '24 model.

These were my first EVER FoMoCo products. I knew going into it that Ford and their dealers were not Lexus. And a Ford was not going to be trouble free like a Toyota. It still is a source of wonder that after all their experience, FoMoCo can't do better on the quality end. With the exception of the Edsel, FoMoCo has hit many product home runs but the execution is where things go south. Think Pinto.

That said, after owning and driving other trucks and replacing my 2016 GMC Canyon V6 with the '22 EB Mav, the trucklet is the perfect truck for my needs at this stage in my life. I think people fail to take into account or evaluate their needs. There are trade-offs in life.

?? ecoboosts do not have CV axles. unless i am mistaken, that is purely a hybrid thing.

edit: I was mistaken.
as a former Cornhusker from 1982-1987, my teen years when/where I developed both a work ethic and a foundation for how stuff just works, well I'm deeply saddened by that statement... you just have to represent better... ;)

Update... I saw your follow-up posts... completely understand that your eyes saw CV and you thought CVT... it happens... Hope you didn't mind my light ribbing.

I've lived in many places and I always maintain a fondness for the land of the Good Life and the folks that hail from there!

Well to get back on track, I picked up the truck today with the one new cv axle. Also the new cv axle looks much more beefy and makes the original look like it belongs on a power wheel.
You didn't happen to take any pictures for comparison did you? Some of us would be really interested in seeing the comparison of OLD CV axle to NEW CV axle. Would really benefit the membership here. Did you ask to open up the boot of the spent axle to have a look at the damage?

I knew about Ford quality before buying my Maverick 3 years ago. I bought an extended warranty for my Maverick to protect myself.

like many others I am dealing with bad cv axles. Took my truck in when I noticed the shaking upon acceleration and it was confirmed a passenger side cv axle. I asked if they could replace both and was told no. Waited 3 weeks for the new and improved cv axle while still continuing to drive on it. Was installed today and just got the call that it’s better but still present. So as predicted they now said the driver side is bad and the part is 1 month out. Again, they told me to continue driving it. Who knows what damage is being done to related components while driving. I’m sure it will be something else after the driver side is repaired.
this is only one of many issues I’ve had with this thing. Worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. If you’re on the fence about a maverick , don’t do it.
Just curious how many miles you have on it? I have just shy of 11K on my Hybrid and feel fortunate I have had none of the common issues I read about. I am concerned as they just did the recall issues on mine and many people have spoken of glitches as a result of the recall reprogramming.

People are complaining about the volume of the turn signal FFS - so yes I have a problem with bullshit like that.

I also have a problem with brand new members dropping in to share their horror story about Ford and their Maverick when there are massive holes in their stories and then they dip and never post again.

Negative information is welcome.

Do we need dozens of duplicate threads from new members on well established topics that a simple search would reveal? No we don’t. That just makes the site suck.
I have to somewhat agree, I read far more complaining stories than positive stories like I get great fuel milage or how comfortable my long trip was. I believe complaining is also necessary but like it was said, go to that thread and add yours there. I love my Maverick and have had none of the issues that are most commonly complained about but I just hit 11K and have "Knock on Wood" have had absolutely no problems.

Anyone in this thread have to pay for their CV replacements?

Any reports on cost?

OP, how many miles were you (sorry if I've forgotten) did you say sub 20k? I'm at 50k now and feel it might be a good idea to consider the likelihood of doing them sooner than later. Lots of gravel roads near me and I prefer them to the assholes on pavement that can't drive unless 30km/h over
I replaced both my front ones myself for 290$ total.

Assuming USD, but that's not so bad at all! Do you typically do these things? I am starting to get into it, but have yet to even do my oil change... started with Rival skid install, next will be oil, then we will see how i am feeling...

What is the expected "normal" lifespan for CV axel? I don't have any ownership experience with front wheel drive.

My Corolla is at 195,000 and still on the original cv axles. My maverick needed 2 new ones at 50k.

My 2018 escape had 193k kms and my 2011 escape had over 300k kms without needing it

I have been doing some acceleration testing and low traction flooring on the drive home and I think it was just typical shit at 80mph/130km/hr+ standard speed wobble because of AT tires, and thankfully not CV

Next time I am under it i will be taking a very detailed look, though, but I have only ever done "the works" while it was under b2b warranty and never had anything come up

Except for the ordering process, over the last couple of years my Maverick has been great.
