Mud flaps needed?

so I picked up my maverick on Saturday and did the basic upgrades, the storage cubby, front blinker lights, tonneau cover, and tailgate dampener . I am going to add hood protector just not sure which one to get, suggestions? Also not sure if mud flap are really necessary, again looking for feed back on this.

I don't have mud flaps on my Lariat. Of course, he's a pavement prince with rare gravel/short distance off road driving.

Based on this I would say you will be happy with mud flaps.

I have put mud flaps on all my trucks. I live on and travel dirt roads and do not like the dirt, mud and snow all over the side.

I have, and can recommend, the Mabett ones. If money is no issue the Rokblokz ones get good reviews.

In full disclosure, I don't have mud flaps, but that is a personal choice of mine.

One reason I can think of FOR them is that the area behind the drivers' side rear wheel is open up into the body of the truck, so much so that water kicked up by that tire will "weep" out of the left taillight. (If you ever see grit there, even though the rest of the truck is spotless, that is probably why.)

There are threads on this with some pretty clever solutions that don't necessarily involve mud flaps, but it isn't an either/or proposition.

Some of the mud flaps rub against the body of the truck over time, damaging the paint - so read up on whatever brand(s) you are considering and see if anyone has put protective film on as a preventative measure.

I live on a long gravel road and mudflaps are a must. I ordered & installed them first week I owned the truck. Get the ones that more coverage in the rear driver's side wheel well.

Skip the ones Ford sells. They have a piece that rubs against the painted edge of the fenders and can eventually rub it bare and rust.

Without reading any other replies I'm just going to say: "yes to mud faps". Always "yes", because why not? It doesn't detract from a vehicle's appearance, and even the smoothest road can flick debris into your paint. Yep, this is the hill I picked, for better or worse.

I recommend Rokblokz mud flaps! I installed them with no issues and they have performed well for me.

I have the musology mud flaps on my Maverick. Mainly to keep any more than necessary crap off the roads being thrown up at my paint. Whether it's mud from a construction site, salt and snow on the road.

I don't off road nor live on a gravel road, my vehicles are garaged.
