I ordered mobile internet through Starlink. Does anyone have experience with Starlink in your Maverick? Do you permanently mount it or just put the device outside when you need it? I would like to temporarily mount it, if possible. Ideas?

While I do not have an answer for you I am hoping that you will possibly post up your experience both with installation and how it performs as I and, probably others are interested in this at some point.

Do you have a rack? Why mount it to the vehicle?

Was sortof my thought. Starlink calls it "mobile" but it is definitely not a "drive around all day with internet" kind of mobile... My only experience with it is a good friend who brings their Starlink when we go camping. Since it is directional, it has to be adjusted and pointed for the best signal, etc. It usually ends up on the ground in a clear area, nominally in the same location (but not necessarily pointing the same way) as their solar panels.

That said, it might be possible to put a swivel mount on the truck somewhere if you wanted to put the antenna in it every time you needed it. Then you always need to worry about a clear sky view when you park your truck, however...

For the edge cases, Starlink will be great. Like when you're out in the middle of nowhere and stationary long enough to setup and align the antenna. For 95% of the rest of the time, why not get a phone on something like Visible, use the hotspot to connect to a travel router and have a setup that works (nearly) all the time, even on the road while driving, and costs a fraction of the price.

Could also do something like 5G home internet options, which work on the same networks, but have a more robust modem/router.

Yeah, my buddy has a dish and I can tell you up here in the Cascades it would be a terrible idea to have it mounted to a vehicle. You want the flexibility to put it somewhere away from trees and with a clear view of the sky.

Starlink is coming out with a Mini in the next couple of months in select markets to start. Cost expected to be about half of the Standard, not sure about cost of plans yet.
