Here is an honest opinion from a millennial (me):

I was unaware the XL DID NOT have cruise control and initially thought that feature would be added with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 package until I dug deeper into various forums to realize that's not the case. I had ordered the car prior to finding this our but not having that option isn't a deal breaker, just a nice-to-have.

As mentioned many times in this thread I had assumed these "basic" options were included. I currently drive a paid-off base 2014 Nissan Altima with standard cruise control, push button start, sirus XM and backup camera, and "assumed" a car 8 years newer with a similar trim level would include these options.

I would venture to say that there are a few other buyers out there that did the same thing I did and upgraded to a newer car (albeit, a base model) and thought it would include some of the seemingly "standard options" that are on most new cars in 2022.
I was aware that the XLT did not have the push start just frustrated as I think that should be included.

Another small issue I have is the drivers side power window goes down automatically with 1 click. However this does work when rolling it back up. You need to keep your finger on the control. Strange. Am I missing something?

Also I was surprised the XLT lux included heated power steering wheel? Pleasant surprise but would rather have push button start.

Also disappointed in the radio. Not only sounds terrible but the reception when traveling is awful? Anybody else have this issue?
Do you have the antenna screwed into the shark fin on your Maverick? A couple of other Maverick owners said the same thing about radio reception only to realize that they hadn't installed the antenna! 😄

None of us know the cost accounting on the Maverick, but how is designing and manufacturing a separate non-cruise switch cheaper than using the same switch and putting cruise in every trim line? The only hardware difference is the switch, the rest of it is software.

Each option and package has a profit margin.

Do many people decide against a package because it has a couple things they want and many things they do not want?

It seems a cold weather package would sell well. I have zero use for heated mirrors, seats and steering wheel, but for many others that is a must have.

I didn't buy the luxury package because all I really wanted was the push button start and the bed stuff.

Maybe as the build by customer order bugs work themselves out, Ford will change the option/package offerings in the future.

When was the last time a manufacturer put a cd player in a car? 1998?
I had one in my 2006 Trailblazer, so it was still happening then. (If I remember correctly, a 6-changer was an option, but it was under the passenger seat and not easily swapped out on the go).

I just looked at the build sheet for the 2018 Silverado I just traded in a few months ago, and apparently it had one too. I don't think I ever used it though.

As far as XM...every ford from base to top end pretty much comes with it, sans work trucks and such. I guess we shouldn't have assumed it would have it.

Our salesman was friendly enough, but didn't know much about the Mavrick.

I went to several dealers here in SW Florida looking for a Brochure and possibly a Maverick on sight to see. I was told there will be no brochure. I did get lucky enough to find an XLT on a lot and it was everything I was hoping for and even a bit more. I had been doing my homework and will say there were certainly a few articles that could lead a customer astray from what actually was included or not.

After taking my wife to see, feel and touch an actual Maverick we were ready to order. The dealer was NOT knowledgeable to all the options. Fortunatly I had studied everything I could find and did get a Maverick ordered with what we wanted.

Only after we ordered did I find out that there IS a Brochure and it does a great job covering all models and options. It's a 16 page brochure that can be found on the internet.

Some of it is based on customer expectations (no cruise control in a 2022 model? Really?), some of it is based on lies from Ford (removing the fullsize spare tire as part of the Lux packages, lying about it being fullsize), and some of it is due to dealerships not investing in their employees.
Sad but true; I knew (and probably know) more about what the Hybrid XLT LUX with CoPilot360 has than my dealer. I find it interesting that Long MacArthur Ford YouTube videos prove the information was available to dealers, but it appears they really dropped the ball..
I have filed a complaint with ford. Issue with the spare tire. I have lariat, lux package, and copilot 360. At the time of ordering my build and price online showed full size spare. The full size was not indicated on dealer invoice, but many options bundled in do not show on the invoice. Get my truck and there’s a donut spare… not sure if dealer neglected to pick full size spare for “$0” or if ford removed it from the package by the time it was built. In Canada they make a note about full size spare on hybrid (under the header for lariat lux package) however, lariat hybrid is not even a possible option in Canada…

I'm thinking the packages will certainly change with the next MY Maverick. We've already been told that Ford will remove spray-in bed liner from the Lux package so I would expect other changes will follow based on feedback Ford receives. The two biggest changes I would expect is adding Cruise Control to XL and possible Push-start to XLT and XL. Both of those seem like cheap easy changes. I have no idea of how much it cost to add those things but why not make them a separate add-on item or part of a package. They'll never have a package that meets everyone's wants/needs, but they try. The best would be just a basic vehicle that you could then "build" with all the different add-ons, but I imagine right now that would make manufacturing to cost prohibitive.

Friends of Maverick,

I'm 72 years young so I'll be silly here for a moment or three...

Growing up our car MAYBE had a radio, and if so, it was AM...

Later, in the late 60s or so, FM came into vogue, even though there were very few FM stations. Once we realized the boost in quality, we all said, "Well Hellz Bellz, What'll They Do Next?"

Shortly after that, manufacturers saw $$ signs and began placing 8 tracks in vehicles. We bit, purchased them, and stored the cartridges in bags to take indoors each night and said again, "Well Hellz Bellz, What'll They Do Next?"

Cassettes became a big hit because of the better tape quality, and manageable inventory of new music to store in our vehicle - we could even purchase cassette containers!! We all said - in unison please - "Well Hellz Bellz, What'll They DoNext?"

Then came CDs and we reallllly liked this product. We could program different songs on several inserted CDs at a time!! Tall cotton, and we were sure we hit the big time, so no need for any exclamation. We couldn't be more content, even with the full turnaround in radio with the advent of XSerious and such - we could just program eight hours of music at a time with our favorite CDs. At our age, even on long trips we didn't drive much more than that at one stretch...

Bottom Line?? Don't Have One - EXCEPT, "Well Hellz Bellz, What'll They Do Next???!!!!!" I enjoy reading your comments while I anxiously await my XLT ECO Boost, AWD, ALTO Blue, 4K Tow Pkg, Rear Sliding Window, 400w Inverter, Spray In Liner, Liners and Mats, Tailgate Lock, and Driver Side Tool Box. all ordered and approved 8/30/21. And NO, I am not changing a thing in an attempt to speed anything up. With my luck? - Well, I think I've used up my ration of Hellz Bellz expressions..... Great Days To Each and Every One of You !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terry

Let me know how it goes. I'm furious that they did that and that we had the same experience.

I don't believe it's on the dealer.

My 2018 Ford Escape S came with a CD player. In 2019 Ford deleted it. I can still load my music onto a flash drive and plug it into my USB slot. Without a touch screen though it is a bit to scroll through the songs/album list with the a up down button on the dash.

1998 was closer to the first time, when I ordered my 2004 I had to specify a CD player because a cassette player was still standard, ok so my 1990 Allante has a CD player, but that was an exceptionally expensive car. I was still looking at a Ridgeline for the 2019 model year & a CD player was an option. I will be getting one of those CD players that plug into the USB for my Maverick.
Why? Since the Maverick has Apple/Andriod play, get yourself a cheap used Apple iPod and transfer all of your CDs to the iPod. The head unit will control the iPod. You can put the iPod in the glovebox and not worry about it at all.
