When I got my 25 Lariat AWD it seems my dealer had more important things than how to explain things to an "old fart" . Mostly it was trial and error I know about 20% of what options the computer, car, thinks I should know.

One of the things that pissed me off was the elimination of the CD drive, while I travel I always listened to "books on tape". After trial and many errors I figured out that I can copy the CDs onto my Mac computer, one at a time, to an empty folder than change the names of the files to something simple like if the "BOT" has 12 disks I list the file as 01 (disk # 1 than each file on that disk with an alphabet A. It should look like this disk 1 file (1 0A) through disk 12 file 13 (12M).

Once you have all the disk files renamed. Save it to the music program on the Mac. highlight all the files you entered, Go to the "file" tab in the top line drop down to the "convert" sub menu and select "Create an AAC Version". after that you will have two of each file names. Highlight only the files that do not ens in AAC and delete only those files. you will now have your "BOT" files ready to copy on a flash drive and play on a USB A or the USB C. One last thing is to make sure that your flash drive is formatted as a "FAT32" , Ex Fat or MS-DOS (FAT)
I'm pushing 67 myself and ditched hardware, ie. CD players, years ago even with vehicles that had them. So much so, my desktop and laptops, no longer have CD players. I strictly use hoopla and libby for audiobooks, both available on android auto and I ignorantly believe crAppie car play. YouTube music is the only way to go for streaming music as you can upload up to 20k files on their server.

Kudos to being a Mac guy. Me too. There's a free app called "ClipGrab" that works for downloading content from YouTube. I've saved gigabytes of songs to thumb drives and never listen to radio stations. It's a lot easier than the process you describe; saving in different formats and having the ability to change the name of the file download and folder on the hard drive is a cinch. I've not tried downloading anything other than songs but if it's on YouTube, it's fair to say it will download.

Frpm 2 old fart to another I believe there are both USB and bluetooth enabled CD players you can get that may work...And I would suggest purchasing 1 from Amazon just for the ease of returning it just in case it doesn't...Anyone have 1st hand knowledge of this working?
I have several hundred CDs, so I tried one of the portable CD players from Amazon. This one - Xglysmyc (I know, odd name) seems to work well.

Ditch the CDs and convert everything to digital and thumb drives. Gigabytes of storage and no need to worry about scratches.

Honestly fellas, just get your subscription to Apple Music or Spotify and be done with it. I fought it for a long time until it was forced upon me by Apple. It is very convenient though. Jokes on them for trying to get data though. They just get all my kids music and my Catholic podcasts ha ha.

I have over 200lbs of vinyl from the 60’s/70’s and almost 50lbs of CDs from the 80’s/90’s. Haven’t been played in decades. If I listen to music in my Maverick (rarely) it is a from a modest I-tunes collection:)

Same. Fortunately I have an older iPod Classic with my music library synced to it. I hate to tie up the USB port to it. I long for the days of aftermarket head units, etc.

Thanks for all the information you posted. I have no problem with music, in fact I converted, got from others or downloaded more music than I can ever listen to in my lifetime. In music I have a copy of the top 100 songs from Bill Board from 1947 through 2022, a total of over 14,000 songs. I question and above post deals with books on tape/CD's. I just converted the Lord of the Ring trilogy and each book has 14 of so disks that came out to over 325 chapters in each book. each disk ether has the same titles names or just an random name so when it is put into a folder to be played the chapters don't fall into any sequence. I do not use android formatting I use mac IOS.

As an experiment with that app 'ClipGrab', I tried downloading a book from YouTube and it worked fine. It's a 9+ hour audio on YouTube and it took less than 1/2 hour to download. It takes up a full gigabyte of space on my drive but it's there to put on a thumb drive. I'm on a Mac and it played through the music app.
