In other words, the struts are "engaged" immediately. Instead of some "Play" (height movement) of the hood assembly before the struts engage.
I have found out, (not strut-equipped) that pulling the hood release. In rapid succession TOO Quickly, it will not open.
I have adjusted my routine, by pulling firmly on the release 1st. Then, letting it retract and doing a 2nd firm pull.. 🤔

Jerry
I do the same. Take my time when doing each "pull."
And I have Redline Tuning Struts and...Made in U.S. .....no drilling, direct bolt on to existing
Ford hardware, no issues.....and same price. I'm satisfied.

I think MRT is playing catch up, since Redline has been in the engineered strut business
for many years. Their struts are tuned to individual hoods. Have been.
Had them on many Mustangs. No issues ever.

Great question.
What was the reason why you bought replacement struts?
Original struts started wearing out after 3 years. I open and close my hood a lot!

So what brand(s) of struts have people had issues with in the past? I don't recall hearing about anyone with the Redline struts having any issues.

I installed Redline struts almost 4 years ago and have never had even a hint of an issue with them, they have always worked perfectly.

Would the hardware only be available separately. I just bought replacement struts (80K150N-Rep-Strut) back on 9/16/25 Invoice #57043 and are those the updated struts?

Yes give us a call and lets see what we can do!

Great question.

Struts are a wearable part similar to brake pads. Our kits are designed to last several years; however, lifespan may vary based on usage and environmental conditions. The brackets themselves are covered by our limited lifetime warranty.

We have been manufacturing no drill hood struts out of Metro Detroit since 2002.

So.....Redline Tuning has been making hood struts, in U.S. since......2002 also!!
Ann Arbor, Michigan. Hmmm...any connection between your two companies??

Their stats.......
are what you say about yours! I've purchased at least 5 sets of theirs with no issues.
Always perfect fit, and always "tuned to the individual hood" and tested.
It's up to us to be happy with our purchases and decide quality. You can't really "out claim"
to have a better product.....but, of course you will hoist your flag as the best. That's what a
Co. does for their product.
It will take some time for Maverick owners that buy your struts to report back on the good, bad,
and the ugy! LOL!

We appreciate the perspective! To be clear: no connection to Redline—just two Michigan companies.

Regarding 'reporting back,' the data is already there. We have been selling Maverick hood struts since 2021. We were first to market with a solution for this truck, and we’ve been a proud, active member of the Maverick Truck Club community since day one. I'm not sure you can say that about many other strut companies.

We’ve sold thousands of kits, and while 95% of owners had a perfect experience, we saw that small percentage of 'stuck hood' reports across the forums. Most companies would see a 95% success rate and call it 'good enough.'

At MRT, we don't work that way.

Instead of just managing customer service calls, we were proactive. We went above and beyond to create a brand-new, fool-proof design that ensures a proper fit for every buyer, regardless of factory tolerances. We fixed it up front through engineering so our customers don't have to 'finesse' anything.

It’s also worth noting that there’s a reason all the online Amazon knock-offs you see are replications of our original design—it's because we set the standard for this platform. We led the way in 2021, and we are leading the way again with this redesign.

We aren’t just hoisting a flag; we’re standing behind a commitment to this specific community that we’ve been a part of for years. We’re confident the results will speak for themselves

I touched a nerve. I'm sure you believe yours are the best. I get that. They may be...or not.
Might be a "tie" between 2 Michigan hood strut co's? LOL......That's fine. Redline Tuning is not
a "fly by night co." and also have an excellent product and I don't think...??? any complaints
of users on their Mavericks concerning the hood release latch cable system.
Mine works fine. Oh, I don't work for Redline Tuning. I tried them...many, and have always had
the results I expect. That's what's important.

And, I won't be taking mine off to put yours on!...LOL....just having fun here. I'm sure you figured
I wouldn't do that....even with all your praise of your own product. As you should stand behind
them.

Have a Great Weekend!!

Nice parts, best looking kit I’ve seen yet.

But I’ve never had a ‘Stuck’ hood and never seen the first thread or post about anyone having that problem.

I found my very light aluminum hood easy to open and set on the stock bar.
I feel the same. Great if you like them sure but for me; the hood is really light and I don't see the need.

Thanks for the compliment on the look! You’re right—the Maverick hood is light, but our kit is about more than just lifting weight; it’s about protecting the vehicle's hardware. We’ve seen two main issues:

Cable Failure: The factory in cabin hood release lever has a plastic fork that can allow the wire catch to slip out, effectively disconnecting your cabin release from the latch.

Latch Misalignment: If struts are weighted too strong, they apply constant forward pressure on the latch while the hood is closed. This misaligns the mechanism, eventually requiring two people to open it—one to wiggle the hood and another to pull the release lever in the cabin.

The MRT Solution: We didn’t just tune the gas pressure of the struts to be 'just right' to avoid that latch-killer pressure; we also engineered our brackets to specifically eliminate this geometry issue altogether. Our design ensures the force is directed where it belongs, so you get a smooth lift without compromising your latch alignment.🛠🏁
Appreciate the enthusiasm—but reading these AI-generated posts is genuinely excruciating.

The Issue:
They’re long, over-engineered, and feel more like a spec sheet written by a chatbot than a human response.

The Result:
Instead of clarity, it’s just noise. Lots of words, very little signal.

The Simple Fix:
Talk like a person. Fewer buzzwords, fewer “engineered solutions,” more actual conversation. 🛠😵💫

On a serious note, I'd love to see more of your manufacturing operation. Do you have any walkthrough videos?

It's a little surprising that you might manufacture gas struts in the US when it's so easy to source affordable units overseas. Unless you're secretly a Tier 2 or 3 supplier to the big dawgs in Detroit.

Never have I seen a forum where people are so happy to criticize when a company comes up with a product, sells some, finds a problem and revises the product to eliminate the issue.

Good on ya for improving your product MRT.
