You may want to consider Redline Tuning Hood Struts. Their awesome imo, installed them way back in 22 when I first got my truck, Zero issues and super easy to install has been my experience

I just installed these and am rather appalled at the height I lose. Strut definitely needs more length. I left the original prop rod in there because I could see a mechanic wanting to pop out the struts to give himself working room. If ihadn’t had these floating around for six weeks waiting for warm weather I’d return them.

Geez, that unfortunate. But at least now you know if/when they bad or you just get sick of them, the Redline Tuning hood struts are the way to go, at least imo and obviously lots of others.

I just installed a set of these, the new version. Unfortunately I had to remove the struts after the installation, they simply are too short. The first time I leaned into the engine compartment I hit my head on the hood! I measured the hood height from the top of the plastic front grill to the front edge of the hood: 26 1/4" using the struts. Then I removed the struts and propped the hood up with the factory rod. The grill to hood edge distance using the prop rod is 30 3/4". That 4 1/2" difference is kind of a big deal.
I checked my installation against pictures on this forum of the new version and they match exactly, so I think they are installed correctly.
BTW, my struts measure 12 1/16" from center of socket to center of socket. Maybe a longer strut will fix the problem, not sure.

I originally had the old version MRT Struts/Brackets with using the Jeep hood spring trick. Called MRT and ordered only the new version Brackets since I already bought new struts late last year. Install them and I also was disappointed that I lost about 4" or so of hood height. Also contacted MRT about it and was told that's how the new design works. So went back and reinstalled my old version MRT Brackets and Jeep hood spring. I feel you still need to be able to use the factory rod if you need to change out worn out struts which I had done after 3 years. If anything I got my hood better aligned after going thru all this.

I agree I did not remove the hood prop I’m sure the struts no matter the brand will last forever although they don’t need to they just need to last until I order my next Maverick
