Maximum Spare Tire Size

For some folks having a larger spare tire that may or may not get used is more important

It's my opinion.
The probability of being injured by somebody, running into the back of my Maverick, while they're using their cell phone or otherwise distracted including bad weather.
Than there is the probability of me being injured from using a spare tire that's marginally smaller until I can get the main tire fixed or replaced.

To be fair, most of those likely had spare tires they could've slapped on the truck and driven on, if not for the other damage. Mavericks get totaled via rear-end collisions well below the threshold of collapsing the body enough to pop the tire.

Imagine being scared of everything and letting insurance and lawyers control everything you do.

Not trying to do a whataboutism here, but I think people driving around with domesticated animals loose in the cab, and those towing 6,000-lb trailers with Mavericks are much lower-hanging fruit than the dreaded spare-tire scofflaws.

Not when you change tire size. You go up to 30" tires you need a 30" spare. You have three 30" tires and a 28" spare, things start breaking, truck no go, repair bill very high.

Here's a what if.
As long as you're not worried about being injured.
What if, we start adding steel reinforcements onto the crumple zones of the truck frame, so that they aren't totaled so easily

Imagine owning your house and driving a vehicle without insurance and getting into an accident.
And having those pesky lawyers take your house away. Then imagine being thrown in jail for having an accident and not having insurance. Then you have to get one of those pesky lawyers to get you out. Go to court....etc.

I take it you don't ride dirt bikes or do other manly things because there is too much risk involved. What else do you carry in your purse?

You were the the one that said, you weren't going to let lawyers or Insurance dictate how you live. I'll bet you have insurance on your truck and house. That is unless you're living in someone's basement or garage.
Even renters have insurance likely written into their lease drafted by lawyers.

Me neither. Three years ago I got a flat miles in on a Jeep road in Death Valley, 5 miles from my destination. I hadn't had my Mav for long and forgot that all I had was a useless donut. I could barely clear the ruts and loose rock but made it to my destination and was able to repair the flat tire with primitive methods. That's one thing that made it an adventure. But soon after bought a fullsize rim and matching tire, which is how I travel because I DO go offroad.

Speaking of adventure... In the next couple of weeks I'll be doing the Montana BDR and sleeping in areas where there are grizzly bears, for which I carry protection. Some people are more averse to risk than others and could never do that. That's fine with me if they want to stay in the city and worry about lawyers stealing their homes because they modified their truck to carry a fullsize spare tire
