I love my Maverick and ordered number 3 in Dec 23 and it's now built and in transit as we speak. All are AWD with 4k. Never owned a XL but love the 2.0

Don't take a forum as representative of problems with a vehicle. People without problems don't post "My rear diff is okay today." AWD XL's are fine. XL is the clear value leader of all the trims.

I wouldn't worry about it. This is a parts bin vehicle, which means that most of what matters (engines/transmission/etc.) are fairly reliable overall.

OP, here is some life enhancing advice.

Whatever vehicle you decide to buy next, under no circumstances should you locate a forum for owners of that vehicle. And if you do, absolutely, positively do NOT read any postings there. Otherwise you spend the rest of your vehicle purchasing life in a sub-electronic dilemma....

Don, I don't have an XL, so can't speak on that particular model. I've an Ecoboost AWD Lariat. Alot of the parts are the same though, just a few more add on's on the Lariat.

I had the same questions as you are having after I joined this forum. I'd already ordered my truck and what I read made me second guess my desicion.

I'm happy I stuck it out. I like my truck alot, and so far the build quality has been similiar to other brands I've had and was happy with.

I'd still recommend to go with your gut, though, whatever that is telling you. :)

Love my awd 4k tow, my22, not a single issue not even a squeak or rattle, it’s handled everything I’ve throw at it. I think the majority are fine, the xl trims normally take longer to get, the hybrids seem to have more complaints posted about batteries and deep sleep than the EB versions for the most part. I wouldn’t be worried in your position, I think the majority of the hybrids are fine also, it’s just folks don’t post on the positive but do on the negative. Just my opinion

I am old enough to have learned a few things.

First look at any car forum and you will go away thinking that it is the worse car ever based on the vocal few on the forums.

Next Confirmation Biased Thinking is alive and well in the auto industry.

For example my in-laws in the 80s bought a Camry and because everyone thought Toyota could do no wrong during the 80s, my in-laws believed (Confirmation Biased Thinking) their Camry was trouble free even though it was in the shop several times for various repairs and had a rattling dash that was never fixed.

In todays car market, especially on the forums I see this a lot. Folks that are buying a Ford for the first time and are worried about having issues (biased against Ford) will jump all over an "issue" and blow it out of proportion. Posts will read something like my Maverick has a broken (fill in any minor issue) and is a "expletive of choice". Then they pronounce that they will get rid of it as soon as it is out of the shop and never buy a Ford again.

When going through forums you need to apply a common sense filter to what you read. Forums can be a place to vent for some who will never be happy or a place to meet other enthusiasts who are happy with their car choice. Car forums become what you make it out to be.

Last thought, If you already have Confirmation Bias Thinking (not saying if you do or don't have it) against the Maverick you should not get one. You wont ever be happy because you will be looking for things to point to and confirm your bias.

I echo Tiger Dude 100%. THE PEOPLE WITH NO PROBLEMS DON'T POST! I was so down on my truck before I even received it, because of all the BPM (bitching, pissing, moaning) on this forum, a lot of it from guys who hadn't even received their truck yet! Then, out of nowhere, a poster said just what Tiger Dude says, and I felt a lot better. Lily Tomlin said it, "language was invented because of man's need to complain." Enjoy your truck; I am enjoying my XL Hybrid.
