2027 Maverick XL already costs $30K with destination charge so the Fathom is a much better deal in terms of features over the current Maverick so I don't expect the 2028 Maverick to be any better.
That's the other thing. At what point does current generation Maverick pricing no longer make sense? You can already get to $45k on a Maverick. Might as well step up to a Ranger at that point. I priced out a 2026 Maverick Hybrid AWD 4k tow with the options I'd want and it's $40k. Seems like a lot for this current generation. A $40k Fathom might make more sense just for getting features unavailable on the Maverick at the moment.

I'm probably the only person not interested in a midgate. Honestly, if that comes standard, I would likely pass.
I for one hope it has one.

My 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid that I got in December 2021 had the sliding window.

I ordered it because on my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT I used it's sliding window to haul long pieces of 2x4's 2x6's etc.

Needless to say the small window on the Maverick was useless so when I reordered my latest 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid I excluded the rear sliding window.

A mid-gate would be a feature I would love.

Not sure why you would pass if it has one. You don't have to use it you could just ignore it.

In 5 years the Fathom (if around) will not be at its intro price too. It’s a risk that proved (y) With 1st year Maverick buyers.

Silverado EV pictured above could haul 12-foot lumber with no red flag; and 16-foot lumber with a red flag on the back of it.

But realistically, how many times a month do you haul 16-foot lumber?
I had to pay Home Depot a delivery charge to deliver quantity (12) 16' 2"x8" lumber for my fence (top of).

If the mid-gate is standard on the Fathom that would be great.

Probably won't be able to haul 16' lumber but handle 8' and maybe 10' just fine. That would save me not having to hire out a rental truck or pay a delivery fee.

You just reinforced buying the first year Fathom.

Also in five years every vehicle will have higher prices not just the Fathom. And yes it will still be around.

My 1st year Maverick purchased OTD for $26,400 with no trade and sold for $31,404 made me over $5k in profit that I used to reduce the cost of my 2023 Maverick.

Us guys that ordered their Mav back in 21 got a great deal my first Mav was a FX4, I waited over 8 months, it turned out to be a great truck, am on number 3 now went from gas to hybrid back to gas, I love my new lobo and not going to give it up, but there are advantages to buying this new truck, this is just the beginning, ford is going to use this as a test case and build more models off this vehicle if it works out and the price is going up!!
I would be the perfect customer for this truck; I only drive 5/10 miles a day, I rarely do any long-distance trips and can charge from my home, the thing is what little driving I do I enjoy driving, when I see people lined up at charging stations some reading books or on the phone waiting, that's not me, what happens on long trips 100/200 miles in service areas will there be enough chargers? how long is the wait? My supermarket has 1 charging station the mall has 4, Target has 3/4.
Ill take my chances with gas for a few more years and see what happens.
People flock to the FREE or LOW COST EV chargers.

In Cailf you have a 50/50 chance that public charging is FREE or 25 cents per kWh which is better than charging at home.

I have found people in $100k vehicles with home chargers still like to penny pinch.

The chargers that charge 40 cents, 50 cents, 60 cents usually are not busy.

So in a hurry? You can pay to skip the lines and use a more expensive station.

You made an unfair comparison.

Top of the line Maverick to base Ranger.

Also when did they make a hybrid Ranger?

I did a lot better with an XL.
Hybrid AWD 4K Copilot 360 Park sensors Sync 4 Electric mirrors bed tie downs and slide rails for under $34K.
You can add a bunch of options to bring the price up and you can also spend a lot less.
The XLT costs more but gives you very little over the XL IMHO except for the ability to get the Lux package. The other trims are even more expensive, but they are still the same basic truck as the XL.

As the Mavster pointed out, even with all the luxury accessories, the Ranger starts off at the Maverick top end and doesn't have a hybrid option, so the high end Maverick and the low end Ranger are not equivalent vehicles.

BTW - The Maverick outsold the Ranger 2 to 1 in 2025 and has outsold the Ranger every year since 2022. I doubt that trend is going to be reversed for 2026.

What you have no electricity where you live
Both solar and utility power, but I mentioned and you didn't seem to notice CHARGING STATIONS are missing. Shocking fact - Not everyone lives in a city..

Assuming people know how rechargeable batteries work, rapid charging may not be the best for battery health although using on occasion is OK. I would not buy a former Rental EV.
Tesla Manual:
“By default, the vehicle is set up to charge using the Standard charge setting—this setting provides the best performance while also maximizing the life of the Battery.”

Not just Ford, and not just automobiles, so expecting the price of anything to drop is a great recipe for disappointment.

So when the lines at the GAS station charging $3/gallon are to long do you go to the one charging $5/gallon? 😂 I think that is the issue for many people including myself about switching to an EV. I witnessed it in the summer of 2025 at a truck stop in NC. Fast chargers, quantity 12, no cars. Slow chargers, quantity 4, line of cars waiting. I looked at the price on each. Quick charger was 4 times the price.
