If the Maverick gets third place in quality, I'd sure hate to own anything else with all the stories we hear on here about the Maverick.
It's the internet good sir, everyone's favorite dumping ground. All the negativity tends to skew our perception of reality. If you watch the news, you'll clutch your pearls thinking violence and depravity in society is at an all time high, when basically the opposite is true. If you ask a divorce lawyer what they think of marriage, they'll tell you it's a joke, because all they deal with are the marriages that fall apart. If you go on the forums for literally any product, you'll be convinced whatever product you're researching is the least reliable thing in the universe.

The internet brings all the negativity to the foreground, and amplifies in a hundredfold. Because negativity gets clicks. Perfectly reliable car for 200k miles is a story no-one clicks on, it's what's expected. Brand new car with 5 miles on it blows an engine breaks everyone's mind, and they just have to learn more. So those stories are higher traffic, and become more widespread, whereas the boring, but positive stories, get buried.

If maverick's were having like a 10-15% failure rate,or anything that severe, Ford would go out of business. Bad things happen, but they aren't anywhere near as common as we're lead to believe.

I am hoping this little microcosim of spirited and vocal Mav owners are not reflective of the overall ownership experience. This is where the few, the vocal, the sometimes shrill and whiny can vent.

If not, the Mav will have a lifetime shorter than this vehicle.

The Exploding Ford Pinto of 1973. Greed, malice and incompetence in car… | by JM Miana | The Snail | Medium
In 1973, you could by a new Pinto for less than $2000. That is about $14k today in inflation adjusted dollars. They were actually good little cars. I owned three. The base ($2000 one) had a 4-speed manual, manual windows, AM radio, vinyl seats (no reclining) zero carpeting and a heater. Airbags didn’t exist. Nothing like our Mavericks. And like many cars of that day, manufacturers cut corners and in the case of the Pinto, it faced catching on fire if hit in the rear. Simple fix at the time was to replace the filler between the cap and the tank.

So... the Maverick beat out the Tacoma and SC eh? Guess that Japanese quality has gone down hill since they started allowing previously substandard parts to be used in their vehicles. And Hyundai is well Hyundai. Imagine Tacoma HQ scratching their heads about losing to a Jeep and 2 Fords 🤣

It's #1 whether hybrid or Ecoboost if it meets your needs. It's great to have options. Also, most cars on the roads have had some issues in the past, it just they don't openly share what those issues are. The real point in the scheme of things is whether those issues get resolved in a timely manner.

This back and forth is senseless. Let's all have this discussion five years from now, when the reporting agencies have a larger body of meaningful data.

I'm a big fan of professional automotive quality analyses, but I dislike that most of the quality issues reported today are tech - like a phone won't pair. I wish they'd separate tech from mechanical and give two scores. These days a car can have a lousy score, but be flawless mechanically. This is one of those cases where the devil is in the details.

Why take this seriously when they give a Jeep anything a prize? Complete garbage vehicles

I call BS, as we say in Yankee land. there’s no way a Jeep product has fewer issues than a Ford or anything else.
