Some interesting snippets from their report:

Ford Maverick Maverick Ranks Third in 2023 Initial Quality Study for Midsize Trucks (JD Power) 1687988233909

Ford Maverick Maverick Ranks Third in 2023 Initial Quality Study for Midsize Trucks (JD Power) 1687988254833

Tesla ranks pretty far down in their "problems per 100 car" rankings at 257, far above Ford and Toyota at 194 and 201 respectively. But to be fair, Teslas have far more electronics than your standard car, and JD Power rates all problems be it electronic or mechanical the same in their "problems per 100 car" metric. Also interesting to see Toyota and Ford ranking similarly in this metric, but I'm surprised that Dodge, Ram, and Alfa Romeo is at the top of their chart at 140ish problems per 100 cars? Either their vehicles are very barebones or Stellantis quality really is going up. They did rank the Gladiator above the Maverick in terms of quality in the "mid-size" segment, even though the Maverick is not "mid-size".

If the Maverick gets third place in quality, I'd sure hate to own anything else with all the stories we hear on here about the Maverick.

I am hoping this little microcosim of spirited and vocal Mav owners are not reflective of the overall ownership experience. This is where the few, the vocal, the sometimes shrill and whiny can vent.

If not, the Mav will have a lifetime shorter than this vehicle.

Because it sounds better than getting First Place in a race of one.
Also if you read the notes at the bottom there needs to be at least 3 models in the category. So if there was to be a compact pickup there'd need to be more than the Maverick and Santa Cruz ('sport adventure vehicle', blah, blah).

1st Place: Ford Ranger
1st Place: Jeep Gladiator
2nd Place: Ford Maverick

Well, not really if you think about it as a three way competition, like an Olympics. If first two tie for gold, third gets a bronze. /pedant

My guess is because there aren't really that many compact pickups. If the maverick and sante Cruz were rated in their own class, the maverick would be rated as number 1 for quality, which isn't a bad thing. But so many people cross shop compact and midsized trucks that it's probably more helpful to see how the maverick stacks up against those midsized offerings.

Consolidate information as much as possible to help consumers doing research.

I’m trying to remember, but can’t. Please remind me of the last time 2 people got a gold medal for the same event.

I’m having a little fun with this thread, but I’m starting to think that many people are serious
