Ethanol does not cause turbo failures.
Higher octane does not get better MPG.
Ethanol free gas gets 3% better MPG.
Agree. People still misunderstand what octane rating means. Higher octane does not mean more power. In simplest terms, a lower octane has a lower flash point and vice versa.

Higher octane can mean more power, especially in a turbo engine by allowing more boost. Higher octane never means more MPG. Octane has nothing to do with flash point. It the measure of resistance to detonation and nothing else.

Has anybody found a popular gas station such as Walmart that you actually get the amount of gas the Maverick can hold Walmart has me at full at 313 miles to empty i have had Marathon give me 400 miles to empty but Marathon Gas stations isn't that popular
Every time I fill up I get a different miles to empty reading. It depends on the fuel economy you were getting at the time of the fill up. I can fill up after town driving and it may show 335 miles to empty but when I get on the interstate it starts climbing due to the increased highway mileage.

I made a trip to a Ford dealer this morning to have them reprogram my radio which had been freezing up on the screen. On the way home I drove 65 on I 35 in and out of traffic. My fuel mileage computer got to 46mpg average over the 18 mile trip.

This is an ecoboost AWD with the 4K tow package and the A/C was on. The dealer had just done a full erase and reprogram of the audio control head (radio). It seems good too now.

Of course it does....in an engine such as the 2.0EB, the higher octane allows the engine to run more efficiently (the full range of variable timing), and thus increases FE.

In an engine lacking the cylinder pressure to utilize the octane, then I would agree with you.

But as a blanket statement, that is false.

I hope this thread never ends. I hope it becomes the longest thread in forum history and consumes the entire front page for weeks on end. We will all post in this thread, this is our new home, our new town square. All hail the miles-to-emtpy thread.

A turbo engines use of higher octane is to increase boost, there is very little timing advance. If you use higher octane and put your foot in it to utilize the extra HP you will get worse MPG. If you use higher octane and leave it in eco mode and hypermile like you did on 87, no change in MPG.

I'm sorry, that is an oversimplification of engine dynamics, and not at all accurate. FI engines are not exclusive to efficiency gains with higher octane fuel. It's all about cylinder pressure (heat), regardless of how it's generated.

You can prove it to yourself if you really care to, with your own Mav. There are numerous fuel threads here that verify FE increases of ~10% when comparing 87 vs 91/93 gas in the EB Mav, including my own.

No sense in arguing, I'm assuming your perception of things is reality in your mind.

It depends on different conditions. During the warm weather sometimes I fill up & days about 500 to empty. During Winter when I idle more or run engine waiting for picking up people, it will go way down. I based it on time running.

I suspect that you need to set pump nozzle to the lowest fill speed setting. If the flow rate is too fast on a pump the pump can shut off earlier due to back pressure.
