If Ford knew how bad the current chip shortage is/will be, they would have cut off ordering even earlier. They botched the demand for the Maverick and maybe their ability to build the product as well.
If the automakers would not have canceled order for their chips at the start of the pandemic they would not be in the spot that they are in now.

This is a self-inflicted wound, I feel no pity for them, They made a bad business choice and deserve all the lumps that we can give them.

Well it seems ford designs what everyone may want but allocating has really been their blind spot. Other manufactures too. They all knew the pandemic was coming and according to the media line someone decided at all brands to not stock pile chips so they could start off running when it was over is all fishy to me. They all cut out the brains of their vehicles without a plan...what in the hell is good about
QS9000 and TS Quality systems when we have stupid greedy ceo's and chair committees micro managing the daily needs of a company. They and customers are paying dearly now.

What I don't understand is that Ford cut off ordering when they reached order totals they felt they could build (so they claimed). If they intend to build all our orders, then what is the point of sticking to allocations? Why not first in first out allowing for constraints of course. Makes no sense.
Damn, that's a really good point that I hadn't consider! That makes a lot of sense! Hey Jim Farley, what about this?

I ordered from the largest dealer in the US in sales and they have next to no mavericks. They claim “Ford won’t give us any because of all the AZ plans we will utilize “

God bless you for your service. I am a Desert Storm vet. with 35 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard. The allocation system sucks and why in the hell Ford does not give a Military discount is a slap in the face to people like you and myself. Also I ordered my Mav. an XLT with co-pilot 360 and that is all back on June 14 2021 from a small dealer. The way the GREAT Ford allocation system works I will be lucky to even have a truck this year or next

Interesting take, I wasn't aware that automakers did this, in early 2020? But, either way, I agree except they are wounding the customers, no themselves yet. Demand for the Bronco and now Maverick mean they aren't hurting so much. I regularly read about record profits being attained.

I'm not saying anything about their customer service actions but I also believe you got in early. Think about anyone who ordered during the $3k off deal, GOOD LUCK to them getting their Maverick anytime soon!
I ordered a couple of months back and they told me the wait time would be 6 to 12 months.

I agree but only the Badlands model, the other trims with the 1.5 EB are awful, so underpowered.
Agreed. When I started looking at Bronco Sport's as an alternative to the Maverick, I ONLY looked for BS Badlands, because of a number of factors:
* 2.0L EB vs 3-cyl toy
* lift
* "locking" rear diff
* trail modes
and more.

Allocations should be for regular dealer stock. Special orders should be first-come, first-served. Period.

Of course, considering I placed one of the last orders taken for model year 2022 on January 25, I selfishly hope the allocation process gets me my Maverick sooner rather than later. :)

But manufactures are making tons of money by squeezing money from their customers for too few vehicles with this diabolical man made chip shortage.

I did 26 years in the Air Force and I HAD a $500 military discount lined for Maverick purchase, but it expired in January this year, so that's another slap as far as I'm concerned, because it's not my fault my Maverick, ordered on July 5th, still hasn't been built! Yes gentlemen, I'm with you in not understanding why Ford doesn't offer Vets a discount! 😡

I guess my question for @Granger Ford would be, if you had this experience with your Bronco promotion, why do the same thing for the Maverick? Was there some indication that you would be able to get more Mavericks than the 10-11 Broncos you get a month, or did you just decide hey, we're already in it, might as well double down? :ROFLMAO:
Haha, from my experience it hasn't been the same experience. Chapman could speak to that. He's getting 100+ Mavericks to his 20-30 Broncos with the same amount of reservations.
