These are not the two part lugs nuts that have swelling issues where the lug wrench no longer fits are they? I hate the cheap ones the OEM uses.
One solid piece. They seem pretty high quality. Much better than the OEMs

This is what Gorilla sent me yesterday, for a Maverick.

HRG

Gorilla Maverick lug nuts.webp
Gorillas are good, McGard is probably better.

Reasons:

McGards r made in the U.S.A., Gorillas in Taiwan. Taiwan is a democratic ally at least, so not bad. Some Amazon reviewers got a "dump bag" of Gorillas and had some complaints about QC (quality control) defects seen. If you order the clamshell Gorillas (Amazon links below for reference), maybe there will be less problems with quality and possible counterfeiting when ordered(?).

McGard is only about 50 cents more per lug nut on Amazon than Gorilla. McGard's reputation is impeccable, maybe worth the extra dimes.

I would avoid ones made on the Chinese mainland, and Amazon usually tells you where they come from. Why: Quality? Safety? Thread dimensions right? Metallurgy? You know, all the engineering stuff. There are a lot of fly-by-night China brands on Amazon, with weird marketing names, and oddly-worded descriptions.

Gorillas (genuine, not counterfeit) bought in the clamshell package is good.
Go with McGards if you want better.
If the Amazon links below don't work: I say get McGard 64073 & McGard 24515 locks, or the second choice is Gorilla 61147CX for your google or Amazon searches.

Maybe, after a year, you can convince McGard to update their application info, so people don't have to try and determine on their own what model # to use? -- HRG
Annoying, isn't it? I had to put in a 2021 Ford Edge, which uses the same 14 x 1.5 thread, cone seat, popular Ford-style acorn bulge style lug nuts.

I would stick to the "bulge" ones since it allows a little more seating area to spread the load against those soft aluminum wheels. I'm told the non-bulge ones are OK, but preferable would be the acorn bulge cone seat ones.

Anybody try the spline lug nuts?
Guess they are a little anti-theft, since the imbecile stealing your Mav wheels would need to have the spline tool or have a set of those special bolt extractor sockets.
The 148 lb torque spec is also anti-theft by itself, weak thieves need not try.

I'd really hoped the Maverick didn't include these stupid lugs. It was a constant job removing swollen lug nuts with either a 19.5/21.5 or a chisel to do a simple tire rotation...

Also, something to think about; I'd stick with whichever lug socket dimension is factory. It should be 21mm/13/16 if they're the same as Edge lugs. That's the size your spare lug wrench will be.

My wife got a flat on her '19 Edge this week, usually I pull the tire and take it in for repair. 3 different impact wrenches later, only 1 of 5 lugs broke loose. Tires rotated every 5K at the local Ford dealer.

This us exactly why I will torque mine to 100# and leave it at that. As long as the torque is equal on a lugs I have never seen an issue

Mcgard lug nuts are good quality. I had some on my Escape. With that being said, I found the Gorilla Lock nuts superior to the Mcgard lock nuts in the design. I had Mcgard lock nuts actually get broken by some idiot mechanics that got too happy with thier impact wrench. The raised puzzle design on the key itself was broken off in sections by the torque. The way the Gorilla key goes over the lug is a better design and the lugs themselves look more like an actual lug nut instead of the flattened design of the mcgards.

You better check that torque spec.its way to high.should be around 75-80 ft lbs
It is 148ft/lbs because it has a 14mm stud, the 12mm studs top out at 100, the old 10mm stud tops at 80, I look these specs up every day Monday through Friday, at least 30 times a day, I provide parts services Ford my local Ford Quicklane

As for the lug wrench carried behind the back seat in the "kit", with me in case of a flat that a fix-a-flat spray-goo can won't cure, I think I'll pack my old Husky 24231 17"-long 1/2"-drive breaker bar back there, along with a special "Titan Products 21094 1/2in Drive 22mm Non-Marring Lug Nut Socket".

On second thought, might as well get Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro 25" breaker bar for extra leverage on a rainy night by the side of the road!
The breaker bar and non-marring socket will be nice for roadside flats, after some tire technician puts on the full 148 lb-ft lug nut tightening torque, and for tire rotations in my garage.

(Note: I don't think the factory put on 148 lb-ft torque. I recently took 1 front wheel off & it didn't seem to be on their too tight.)

Getting the breaker bar, wrapped in some old cloth behind the back seat, right next to Ford's Maverick flat tire jack etc., with the non-marring 22 mm socket in a ziplock bag with the McGard locking lug nut removal key too. Roadside emergencies and at-home DIY tire rotations.

Then it'll be fine using the McGard 64037 22mm lug nuts. Those McGard's are like chrome jewels, & the aluminum wheels are too soft, so a non-marring socket is nice anyway to have.

Edit: That 25" breaker bar (leverage) I got fits tightly under the velcro and crank-strap of the tire changing kit behind the back seat Now I just need to put the McGard wheel lock key & 22mm non-marring socket in a padded bag behind it.

The Bronco Sport, sister to the Maverick, only gets the skinnier 12mm wheel studs, not our 14mm.
Strange they would do that, since I just saw a Ford commercial promoting it's off-road prowess, loaded to the gills, jumping and jinking over rough terrain with 2 hippy chicks who time-traveled from 1969 ("Yeah, I dig your ride."). People will tow, load it up (over-load) etc., needs the 14mm for sure.

You're right. I'm switching from McGard locks to Gorilla locks.

Another note: I found that lightweight plastic wheel chocks, tucked in cloth (anti-rattle) next to the jack behind the back seat, is nice to have. 3 fit back there, 2 for the opposite diagonal wheel while changing a tire, and 1 to place on another wheel in the downhill direction. Also a fix-a-flat aerosol can, electric tire pump, & Slime Tire Repair (rope plugs) kit.
