Is it the same drivetrain as the new for 22 maverick?
No, the hybrid systems have received numerous upgrades since then to increase HP from the electric motor and increase efficiency. A lot of the tech they have came from a technology sharing program with Toyota. I previously had a 2008 Camry Hybrid, best car I've ever owned. No issues whatsoever. Worked great every day I owned it, right up until it was totaled in an accident (frame damage, still ran and drove fine at 14 years old).

For the Maverick Hybrid the electrical system, inverter, eCVT and hybrid battery are generally fine, other than a few with bad wiring from the inverter to the 12v system, for which there is a customer satisfaction program. Not a powertrain problem, per say. Some people have had issues with the battery cooling/warming system. No recall, so unlikely to be widespread, at least not yet.

All the big recalls for the hybrid are related to the legacy dinosaur burning ICE technology from the 2.5L engine which dates back to the late 2000s oddly enough. Engine Fire recall (x2), ICE! Emissions problem? ICE! Airbag recall? All Mavs made before July 2022 ECO and Hybrid.

How much more HP's did they increase from 2022's?

I do notice though on this site, there seem to be more problems in general with the hybrid than the EcoBoost. Not cutting down the hybrid,it's just new technology compared to the older, more proven technology in the ecoboost.
Ford hybrid 2004-2005, ecoboost 2009-2010.
I am not sure why this hybrid system is having so many issues, the technology is proven. However, with the current system Ford has moved transmission manufacturing inhouse, upped performance and economy substantially over the old Escapes and CMax, and we are still hindered by supply problems caused by the pandemic. No excuses here for Ford though. They should have put this system thru significant testing before going to market with it. I would like to think that the real issues come down to the suppliers cutting corners or having quality control issues. At this point going into the third year of this vehicle, we should not be seeing ANY of the previous frequent issues. I'm hoping, but am very sceptical at this point. Kind of glad my 2023 has become a 2024.

Do you mean early 2000s? The first few generations of hybrid systems (just the electric motor) were around 20-40HP. The Maverick electric motor can top out at around 124HP from tests that we've seen.

Not to discount the fact that some folks are having legitimate problems, or that incidence rates of those problems are probably higher than they should be--HOWEVER, it's important to frame these things in context. Does the Mav have a relatively high number of recalls? Yes. But it's also very much to be expected of first model years--in fact, it doesn't seem to be excessive vs a number of other common models. And importantly, the number of recalls and reliability issues are not really unique among trucks.

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/the-most-reliable-pickup-trucks-221630.html

The Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Frontier, F-250, Silverado 1500, and Toyota Tundra all seem to have had similar rates of recalls from NHTSA. Some others had substantially more, and a few had about half as many.

It isn't much of a salve to current owners that are experiencing problems though. But for each person having an unexpected problem, It seems there's many times that many folks having no such problems.

Personally I'm not necessarily super worried about recalls in of themselves--if Ford is trying to be responsive/proactive early on in the vehicles lifespan, I think that's a huge positive.

Again, I think everybody can agree the first couple model years have had a lot of unnecessary issues. But it sure looks like the vast majority have been or are about to be resolved.

10k on my June 23 hybrid, no recalls, no issues-

I don't know about the torque rating, but I love how snappy it is with the electric motor assist...

I was driving on the freeway nothing crazy going with traffic. And all of a sudden the truck reved high and then the engine cut out. I got the check engine light, battery light, and a red ! In a triangle. The truck politely told me to pull off the road. When I got to the shoulder I had no engine but had power. Truck would not get out of park. Truck would not turn “over” but all electrical worked. All lights radio, ac, and everything. Just not engine. It’s at the dealer now… any ideas?
No idea what it could be-

Hope you get it sorted out soon...

Exactly, it's like going to a restaurant you loved for years and getting a bad meal. That one experience can turn you off for ages but if you give it a try again it's usually just an outlier.
Or talking to someone who holds certain political or religious views. You talk to enough people from any group, and you're gonna come across unpleasant people you can't stand. You can either generalize based off those experiences, and pass broad judgements on all individuals within that group, or accept that everything in life has outliers.

I like to say if you're waiting for something to be flawless before you appreciate it, then you'll never be able to appreciate anything.

About 267 lb ft of torque at lower speeds, lasts for a few seconds when full throttle is applied.

Thanks for sharing-

I wouldn't want to put you off, to ask how you came to that number, but appreciate your answer regardless...

I usually don't stand on it at a green light, but I find it quite satisfying taking off at just 50 %

Doesn't seem to hurt my mpg much, but still getting used to how different the system acts when it's under 100 degrees...

This is normal. It's one way Ford gets the high MPG out of the Maverick. They don't let it run too long.

On a serious note...sorry you were left stranded. Not cool. 😯

Should of ordered an Ecoboost.
My friends 2019 Escape blew up on “The Pali” (that’s a really dangerous place to blow up, side a Hawaiian “Mountain”) it’s an Ecoboost, or was, she has had a 2022 loaner for 6 months…it wasn’t a hybrid, engines blow up..
