I think they're neat, and I've seen them on the road here. I doubt I'd fit in one, though, and I'm sure the lack of power would annoy me.

I'd rather have a van version.

IDK if they avoid chicken tax though, so maybe not that cheap.

An American K Truck would have to have cool colors & features to attract a “young” buyer spending $15k for a new truck?

probably be great for a farm truck, etc. sure wouldn't be on my purchase list as my only truck/daily driver, etc.

The JDM imports are interesting vehicles for sure, but I'd be interested to know what they do better than a capable UTV, and you can pretty much plan to check in to a morgue being in a serious accident in either. UTVs have been used extensively on on farms extensively my whole life at least, and you see them more and more on streets (along with golf carts) in small towns.

Much better maneuverability and visibility in tight quarters (cab-over steering), bigger bed, lower bed height, smaller vehicle footprint, fully road legal from the factory.

Would you buy a Kei truck? Probably $17k-$22k?
If I still worked on a ranch, sure. But as a daily driver or only vehicle? I'd rather drive a Honda Civic.

How they fare against a full size sport utility or 1 ton pickup would concern me. I'm not against small cars that are properly engineered, but I would take a pass.

Nah, they won't be offered. No Japanese company is gonna spend millions of dollars to tool up factories stateside for these, only to destroy their margins and safety image.

I'm excited to see a future with more compact vehicles, but that will ultimately be up to the consumer. I've personally owned at least six different Kei cars, and have driven dozens more (including trucks). Their biggest problem is with top speed, anything over 60 can be tough.
