I paid about $41 for a 2023 Lariat new. 4k tow. AWD. Eco. Hard bed cover. I wanted something that was going to be my daily driver as I had just retired. Did I care about the sliding rear window? Not initially, but it has come in handy. I live in Florida. Don't know that I've ever used the heated seats.

I see the point in a rear slider for single cabs, when you can stretch your arm out of it, reach in the bed and grab a cold drink maybe. I didn't see much utility in the power slider that came on my Lariat, but then I realised....

... it's the eject button for farts.

On the historical value proposition, I did wonder if my old man would have thought it a great extravagance. So I ran the numbers for back when he would have been middle aged, and it came out about the same price as purchasing a mid size sedan of reasonable quality, which he would probably not have balked at. I do remember when he had the best paying job and expenses were low we were riding round in 2-3 year old equivalents of maybe BMW 520 then downsized to something akin to a 316 in the oil crisis years. I am sure he would have appreciated the gas mileage as it beats all the econoboxes we had later. He was quite value oriented, he'd spend more on stuff if he got more for it.

I'm finding that opening both sunroof & rear window is great for driving around town. Much quieter than the six windows, and great airflow.

But then, my natural environment is a convertible, so . . .

100% Yes. Sold my 2020 F150 & purchased 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid AWD with 4K tow. 9K miles with zero issues and overall average is 43.9 MPG.. Do miss the longer bed sometimes but the trailer covers this issue.

My humble opinion - no from a purely financial perspective ( I was a finance guy before I retired) The maverick was designed to be a $20K truck as the base trim. For the XL or XLT trim, it makes financial sense. When you start to add all of the upgrades, the higher price doesn't work. You are essentially putting about $10K in options on a $30K (in 2025) truck.

Does it look like a great truck? Absolutely! So if if makes you happy....

Personally, I have owned my truck for 6 days. XL Ecoboost, 4K Tow, 360 (1) I got $2000 in rebates and traded my 2016 Tacoma for just shy of $19K so I am extremely happy. :)

By that logic, there isn't justification for buying the upper trim of ANY model. A Raptor is just a dressed up $35K F150 ... a GT3 RS is just an upgraded 911 at more than double the price ... etc, etc

But the lowest model is always a stripped-out version. So the ONLY maverick worth buying is the base FWD 2.0? If you want the hybrid, AWD, 4K tow, ACC, lane centering, sunroof, etc you're just wasting money? I don't agree. There are buyers who want only the absolute lowest trim and price, and that's OK but there's also an argument for the upper trims if you want or need the extra features.

Otherwise you'd be comparing a Maverick Lariat vs a stripped base Ranger, price-wise it works but they're completely different animals. I probably could've bought a Ranger for the price I paid, but I don't WANT a Ranger at all.

Again if you want a higher trim (Lariat?) Ranger for some extra features, logic would be to just buy a base F150. But again, it's a completely different beast

We love our Lariat, we'd be miserable in an XL and the money saved wouldn't matter to us ... Different strokes!

I've got a mantra that's served me well : If you want something better, and can afford it and can justify it (within reason), then just get it. If you buy the cheap version, the features you wanted but didn't get will still bug you a long LONG time after you've forgotten the price difference
Exactly....I don't know why people keep making the same stupid argument. Literally every automobile ever built follows this model progression formula. 🙄

Yes for some, though it’s unfortunate you have to go all the way up to lariat trim to get ACC and the sliding glass rear window in the 25s. I think an XLT with just the safety Nannie’s options is much more the best bang for the buck, but if you can afford it, the lariat does include o some desired options. Better a Larait than a fully loaded XLT.
I have to disagree with a heavier equipped XLT vs. Lariat, I purchased a XLT hybrid with luxury pkg, co pilot blackout, etc. Almost price of a Lariat, I did not want the synthetic leather seats, I wanted the cloth, too easy to scratch or mark it, the cloth holds up better and in most climate conditions they are more comfortable. Also purchased during employee pricing so it was 36k.

I was chatting with my friend about this. He asked me if the Maverick is worth it. I replied no and explained it was because of the higher prices and removal some "features". I understand inflation etc., but go from 20k for a XL to 29k (in my area) it's a bit much.

I paid around 32k for my 23 Lariat with BAP. I felt like I paid too much, because inventory wasn't hanging around too long. I'm pretty sure that the stock Lariat was around 25k in 2023.
Well, walk around the showroom and check out window stickers. Your Mav might be half the price of the other trucks. If inventory is not hanging around that's because they're in demand and worth more. When it comes to sell it think the Mav will resell nicely, I traded from an XLT to a Lariat and the dealer gave $2k more than I paid for it.

My ‘Lariat Trim’ spoiled me, for good.
I’ll trade in/up before 100,000 miles or five years what ever comes first. Just before my extended warranty runs out.

Lariat trim will always be my choice.

So, I have not read all of the replies yet, but the price quoted in the video was $38,090 if I remember correctly (it was rounded up to $40k). I paid $49,500 for my blacked-out Lariat... was that a good deal - 🤣 ? Fortunately (or unfortunately) that was in Canadian dollars, so it was roughly $36,165 based on the average CND>USD conversion in 2023. If you remove my add-ons (blackout, mudflaps and mats) it would have cost $34,500 USD. I have not done a comparison to see what if anything was cut in the MY26 compared to the MY24 but roughly $3.6k over and above the similar My24 gets you Sync4, a bigger screen, 4WD and the 4K tow package (compared to the peewee tow package in the 24), so it seems fare if you're in the market for a Lariat (if you allow for inflation too).

This would be be an arguable point if features and options were the primary considerations. Anyone can argue whether a particular feature or option is worth the cost.

The real issue for me is that the two new ones that passed through my hands were duds. Unreliable, and certainly not a $40K truck.

I’m very happy with mine, but I’m retired and I wanted hopefully my last car to have all the bells and whistles. It’s taken me awhile to learn about the different options but it gives me something to do. To each their own.

I am the same as you… recently retired and had saved up to pay cash. Even bought a good warranty and 8 year replace cost insurance.

I didn't take the time to read through all the other responses in the thread, so excuse me if I'm just parroting what everyone else is saying. I think the Mav makes the most sense at it's cheapest. At $40K I'd be looking at midsize trucks.

All I wanted was a maverick in 22 and 23 but they sold out fast, wanted a HPR XL 2.0 awd which I planned on lowering with airbags. Looked on many lots for what seemed like forever, I live in SE Michigan, if you ever been here there is literally a Ford dealer in every town, some counties have multiple ones around here, finally in July 23 found one on a lot. Black lariat tremor, my first (and last) black vehicle, needless to say I instantly bought it. One of the best vehicles I've had, my 02 lightning did 0-60 5.9 stock with supercharged 5.4, the maverick does it in 6.0 with a turbo 2.0 although it don't hit 142. Traded a focus ST that did 155 for the Tremor and never regretted it.
