I got a fully loaded XLT hybrid this year for about $40k. Exactly what I wanted, in the color I wanted, everything but some cosmetics things I wanted. Drove right off the lot the same day. I still love it after 6 months. Still use everything on it everyday. If I could only keep more gravel road dust out of the covered bed, it would be perfect. Don't regret what we paid at all.

The wheels were $550 for a set of 4 shipped. I spent another $50 for the lugnuts and $100 for mounting and balancing. These are the wheels i got https://www.ebay.com/itm/156081895215
Those wheels are very nice but be careful of potholes the area between the 5 spokes is very weak, I worked for a car company in NYC I seen 100s of bent wheels like that on new vehicles.
I see you have a Z3 I have a new convertible Top cover Never used.

$36,000 for my 2024 AWD Eco Lariat on 12/31/24.
Worth it to me.

Still can’t believe in that $36K was an extra $700 for the paint color, Hot Pepper Red.
I’ve never paid an up charge for a paint color.
I was a little miffed at that.
The to me oh so useless bed extender, a $350 option. Went straight in the basement.
Ten months of ownership and have not used it once.
But hey, they had me with the Clown Interior, I really like that but of course I promptly covered the seat up under Carhartt seat covers and a dog proof seat cover in the back. I’ll never see them again, I’m just keeping the seats new for the next owner I guess. :’P

The remotely operated rear window and the key fob start and the sound deadening windshield and the wonderful heated seats and steering wheel.
The B&O sound is worlds above the Non B&O that was in my 2021 Bronco Sport.
What did I miss?
Yeah the Lariat package was well worth the money to me.

Good advice. Thankfully the potholes out here in the country are not bad compared to closer to Pittsburgh. Plus the stock tires have a good bit of sidewall to help absorb pothole impacts. If i were to drive my Maverick a lot in the winter i would have put winter tires on my stock steel wheels, but i have a Jeep Renegade with winter tires on it for snow duty.
I actually sold the Z3 and replaced it with a JDM RHD Suzuki Cervo turbo. The Z3 was a great car but a pain for these old bones to get in and out of.

I wish my 2025 Lariat was cheaper, but I wish *everything* I bought was cheaper. That feeling isn't new for 2025, however; I've felt that way my entire life. We are never going back to 2021 prices (which is actually a good thing, as those who took econ in high school remember-- low inflation is far better than high inflation, but *deflation* can be disastrous).
The funny thing about high school (or college for that matter) econ mainstream thinking is that it is often wrong.

The 1880's had one of the highest growth rates in the United States (in real terms, i.e. what you could actually buy) and was a period of lowering prices, i.e. deflation.

But that doesn't fit the Keynesian narrative that a "moderate" amount of inflation is necessary to prevent economic stagnation. That in turn is convenient for government who can run deficits (even though Keynes also believed that deficits should be temporary and that government surpluses should be run in good times). So now we have continual deficits and ever increasing government debt.

There is a reason the buying power of a paper dollar continues to fall over time.

Hey, but that brings up a good point - if I measure the cost of a Maverick in terms of ounces of gold or ounces of silver, then it is actually cheaper than in 2022.

And Honda still doesn't have a refreshed Ridgeline.
The Ridgeline is a bit of an oddball in more ways than one. Honda hasn't really done a one-and-done refresh with the 2nd gen Ridgelines, but more like added a few things year-over-year.
  • 2017 - Gen 2 arrives
  • 2018 - AWD option dropped from base model
  • 2019 - Moonroof and power sliding rear window standard on RTL and RTL-T
  • 2020 - FWD dropped on all trims (sorta funny since for two years, the base model was only available in FWD); 6-speed auto replaced with the 9-speed; hunt-n-peck shifter; 8" screen, power tailgate lock; RT/RTS/RTL-T trims dropped
  • 2022 - new front clip; new rear bumper; wireless phone charger
  • 2024 - TrailSport trim added; RTL-E dropped; digital instrument cluster, 9" screen; wireless smartphone projection; new center console; tailgate embossed with "RIDGELINE"; Black Edition gets ventilated front seats and heated rear outboard seats

Then again, Keynes was very much not a Keynesian!

He was also highly skeptical that a liquidity trap could happen in the real world; it was an interesting intellectual construct. Nonetheless, the Keynesian prescription for government spending to boost the economy is based on the assumption that (at least implicitly) that the economy is in a liquidity trap.

Worth is a loaded term. You can always move the goal posts to make your argument. Value is the better question to ask and then it is a new vs old if you are trading up or new vs new if not.

and as long as we're brain up Keynes, I'll note that he's one of only three names I can offer off the cuff that were able to consistently beat the markets. He spent time with listings in his morning paper, and placed his bond orders for the day--which for him ended about when others were starting the day! (the other two being Peter Lynch and Warren Buffett)

The back seat flips up and there is storage. It's not a ton, but would definitely fit tie downs and Jumper cables
Does anyone use jumper cables anymore. Those small devices that can jump your battery and blow up your tires are so handy, safer, and affordable these days.

I haven't bought that class of thing in several years due to realising that when they specified "emergency" in the title, they didn't mean you to use it more than like twice or three times, because it would break/wear and die real quick.

Your logic is un disputable without a doubt.

Every time I see something I want to buy and wait, the price goes up.

Most times when I watch a preview on Netflix or prime of a free movie and I go back to watch it a few days later it changed to a rental or purchase.

A. I. Has the consumer by the balls and most don’t even have a clue.

twenty some-odd years ago, someone found an airline that was raising prices on people that came back later.

And then that if you deleted the browser cookie for the airline, that you would again be offered the original price!

As a side note, over long periods, gold roughly keeps its purchasing power.

Saw a piece twenty or thirty years ago that noted that a $20 gold coin in 1850 would buy a high quality men's suit--and that that amount of gold at the time of the article would about buy a high quality men's suit.
