Is it safe to get all the recall software updates done now?

Does anyone know if Ford has changed or fixed the software updates that have been causing Mavericks to go into limp mode? I guess you could call this a follow up to my last post about my consistent 12v battery problems, which I encourage anyone to read for more details.

Basically now my dealer won't even look at my truck again (7th time now) until I get all of the recalls done. I have been avoiding them because of all the other Mavericks having issues with these recalls recently. My truck has had none of the problems which the recalls are for, so I have been waiting to get them done until Ford addresses the problem.

It's obvious that the dealership and Ford as a whole still don't know what exactly is causing all of our dead batteries anyway, so I don't really see the use in appeasing them right now.

Get the recalls done, get your battery replaced by the dealer for free if possible, if not, replace it with A BETTER aftermarket Battery. These 12v Motorcraft Batteries are notorious for causing problems in the Maverick Hybrid and Ecoboost. Ford will not replace it under warranty unless it fails their voltage tests..

You said you have been there 7 times already?!? Please just tell them to do the recalls and replace the battery. Sounds like a headache.

I've had all the recalls done since I got my '23 hybrid in March of last year (except the most recent). Had them done as soon as they came out, and have had zero issues.

If you have repeating issues and choose to never have any recalls done then you cannot ever expect to have a solution. How do you know that your particular problem has not been fixed by one of the updates? Apparently you are assuming that there is only one problem that has not as yet been fixed. I have never had deep sleep in 27 months and 28k miles. After 15;months I gave up waiting for my stock hybrid battery to die and started putting my noco genius 5 maintainer on my under hood jump posts about every six to eight weeks. (Good thing to due on any battery and any car make considering how much demand is put on the batteries). My stock battery usually shows 12.3-12.5 volts. It was showing 11.9-12.2 at rest before I started using my noco. I have also had three other mavericks two hybrids and one Tremor. Sold two and have never had failure to start or breaking down. I did use noco on them from day one since they were low usage but all updates done.

I'm on my second trip to the dealer. Even after updates I'm still having issues with it going to limp mode, claiming the timing chain is worn out.

So either, the dealer is incompetent and didn't actually update the software last trip, or there's still issues with the software.

Your dealer is required by law to do the updates that are potential safety issues.

I've had all the software updates that apply to my VIN completed and have had absolutely no problems related to the updates or anything else, except for a dash rattle the dealer says they cannot find.
As long as they connect an external 12v backup power source to the truck during the updates, you shouldn't have any problems.

They are NOT required by LAW to do recalls. You can refuse all recalls until the end of time as long as you are the OWNER of the vehicle. Even though you don't pay for the recalls to get done, the ford techs still get paid for doing the recalls...

Still, recalls are worth getting done in most cases! I would say the OP should definitely get them done and a new battery!! That should fix his MAVs problems

I just got a call from the dealer about my truck needing service. They told me there was an update to the software issue that people were having. I was also told I could decline the recall but it would be documented as such. Kinda thinking it’s time to take it in. Plus my truck just literally went into battery saver mode again after just driving 15 miles this morning. So annoying

I know ford dealer techs make money from doing the recalls. If they see a vehicle needs a recall done, they will ALWAYS suggest it because the customer doesn't have to pay for it and the dealer techs still make money from completing them.

There is no requirement by law for the owner of a vehicle to complete a recall BUT there is a law that requires the MANUFACTURER (FORD) has a solution for the recall (a fix) within a reasonable amount of time. Whatever that means lol Im sure laws vary by state but I haven't found one that requires the "customer" to do anything about recalls. The laws about recalls are mostly targeted at the manufacturers to fix them.

Still I have nothing against recalls. They are made to fix problems and also so the manufacturer can avoid liability

Guys, not knowing any of you personally. If you were my friend, I would tell you to get the recalls done. Put Ford as the responsible party should anything bad happen. I just set up my appointment for the 24S27 and 24V293 recalls for tomorrow morning at 7:30am. I have to go to the dealer. No offer of mobile work. I live 4 miles from it. Oh well.

Ask the dealer to test your 12v battery while they are in there...

Yeah I will be. This will be the second time I take it in and have the battery doing this. Last time they replaced it because of a dead cell.
