New update:
Engine received last week and work was completed over the weekend.
Went in to pick up, drove 20ft in the parking lot and check engine light comes on immediately. Tech plugged in and test driving to diagnose. Currently sitting waiting for the results.
Incredibly frustrating.
EDIT...
Back with another update.
Dealer still has no ETA of replacement long block from Ford. The tech I spoke to didn't seem enthusiast about they're (dealership) 'ballpark' of mid August either. Nearly 3mos, with no truck :(
A quick update:
Despite putting in an 'emergency order request' my dealer is still waiting for parts from Ford. Still no ETA.
For those who may be in a similar situation, I'd advise you speak to a law firm specializing in lemon laws. Supposedly this is potentially falling squarely under...
Random loss of engine power during driving. Along with various codes, including P1061
But this engine swap happened after they already replaced the timing chain components, and knock sensors. It's been a pain.
My dealer applied for an expedited engine from Ford before this was issued. I've been notified since then that my truck has the noted issue.
My question is whether this is an unfortunate blunder at the factory, or a sign there are systemic QC issues. I've been struggling to decide whether to...
I'm considering that. Selling after repairs are complete.
Under federal lemon laws, Ford is technically on the hook for my legal fees regardless of outcome. But your right about it being a frustrating process I might just not want to deal with.
My dealer has been great. Ford on the other hand...
Dealer called with an update.
Apparently Ford is now replacing the entire 'long block'. So basically, they are replacing the entire engine.
Ford has denied my escalation of my buy back claim , they will not reverse their decision. I'm weighing my legal options now with my lawyer. It's...
Update:
Ford has denied my buy back claim, noting that I don't meet my state's requirements (5k miles over). The CS representative gave further contact info if I wish to escalate.
Dealer called and said they have it on the lift now, but no update until tomorrow.
It's been at a dealer for nearly 1.5months now. I also specially ask that all recall updates be done last time I dropped off.... But I guess there's a chance they just didn't do it haha. Although I doubt that wouldn't be the first thing the Ford Engineers would've tried.
From where I stand now...
That's what I thought too, but the truck has had all the recalls completed. And believe the dealer also re-flashed and updated everything again previously.
Very... I was planning on keeping the truck after the last fix. I was willing to give Ford the benefit of the doubt and assume the issue was a hiccup during manufacturing. But clearly there's deeper issues here and I can't have a brand new vehicle where I have to constantly worry about losing...
Similar, but not the same. The only lights that go on are the wrench and check engine and vehicle doesn't restart, just turns off ICE portion. It stays in the 'limp home' mode even after restarting and/or disconnecting 12v battery.
A new update.
Less than 50miles later, I lost engine power again. Dropped the truck at the dealer again.
Ford's Buy Back team is "still reviewing my case". My lawyer is looking into any legal action under Lemon Laws.
EDIT: As of June 26th, it seems the problem relates to the recent CSP about the faulty rod bearing. My Maverick is getting the one-time engine replacement. Timing chain replacement noted below appears to have been unnecessary.
Engine swap was completed Aug 5th, will report if further issues...
Yeah I won't be going back.
Funnily enough, when they handed the vehicle back they said I shouldn't have the engine cutout anymore... And no less than 30min later the truck is back in limp home mode
Update. Dealer is claiming issue is with the engine knock sensor. They want to keep the car several days to monitor.
However they don't offer any courtesy vehicles or rental reburisement. When I asked how do get the work for those days, they very plainly stated that I didn't buy Ford's extended...
My maverick was a dream for the first 18k miles. Then came the wave of software recall updates and I've had the engine lose power twice already and issues with Start/stop.
Ford's software has always been trash, and combine that with a majority of dealerships being incompetent, the experience...
