Can you select between AWD & 2wd modes? Or is AWD always on?

It is intelligent AWD so the PCM will switch between FWD and AWD when needed. Different drive modes will likely change this behavior and some might lock AWD but I do not believe we have seen any specific details on how the drive modes operate yet.

Yeah, I still don't get this. Or know even know if that is final modes. On the Aug 1st Ford Maverick Order Guide it changed to say:
I guess we'll have to wait and see something final to figure it out. Perhaps they heard the initial backlash from FX4 buyers and added it back in. It's all software, so I don't see why they could not switch out the modes.

What’s the source on this? I haven’t seen anything to suggest the fx4 gets a different AWD system, only a few different drive modes.

Wow, a lot of TMI on this thread. No AWD is not 4WD. You can’t select on Ford Maverick AWD.
It is the same 4wd system. The poster asked if it got sport mode. The literature states fx4 gets mud/ruts and sand replace sport and eco, therefore the fx4 does not get sport or eco mode.

We will have to see when it comes out. The preliminary info shows no sport or eco. There are many errors in the owners manual (ex:shows option of power tailgate). We will have to see when it arrives.
