Improving the Maverick's Horns

I'm looking for a louder horn for the Maverick. I searched the threads, but the problem is the search is too broad and every post that has the word "horn" in it is listed. Over 25 pages of comments. Hoping I'm forgiven for starting a new thread on perhaps an old subject. Anyone have any experience of recommendations? Looking for an easy swap out/replacement.

Sure, some homeless guy with a learning disability. That’s understandable.

I get that. I don't think using the horn to warn other drivers is "impolite". Might save a fender bender or two.

The regular horn on my Maverick is completely adequate for its infrequent use.
I want a polite horn option. Similar to the one on the Volt.
For use in parking lots and also stop lights to remind the driver that the light has turned green. I realize that they should be paying attention to the traffic signals and not their phone, but that doesn't mean I have to be an hole about it. Won't change their behavior.

I offer a hypothesis that there is a high correlation between horn use & fender benders.

That said, I’m not just playing the odds but genuinely don’t like honking at folks.

I want a polite horn option.

I use one. They just can’t hear it.

Our twin horns are small & located on the driver side front engine bay. Made of plastic.

Maybe a steel or brass horns would help the tone? Loudness?

Ever had an 18 wheeler almost side swipe you? You can politely try to pick up speed or slow down but without a horn youre prolly gonna have a polite chat with the insurance company.

Yes, almost been swiped by an 18 wheeler. My fault.

Learned how to safely pass an 18 wheeler soon after. It is tough to drive an 18 wheeler. While semi drivers have plenty of experience with dumb drivers - it is better to not be dumb when passing them.

I can tell you as a bicyclist - it is obnoxious getting beeped at. A cyclist can hear your vehicle approaching. No need for the horn FCOL.

And when I’m driving, I prefer to use my brakes, steering wheel, and brain to keep me & others safe.

Bad drivers get beeped at all the time. Do they even care? Not going to waste my battery on them…

There have been at least a couple of times the horn saved me from an accident…

Once I started a lane change with a car in my blind spot. He laid on his horn & I swerved back into my lane. When he passed I could tell he was justifiably pissed. Luckily did not escalate into a road rage encounter!

Another time an inattentive driver started to back out into me in a parking lot. I’m sure they would have hit me if I didn’t lay on my horn!

I’m sure I been involved in other horn use situations. I apologize for derailing this thread with my trollish attitude

In Virginia they have removed car travel lanes to add bike lanes on many city streets and even rural roads. I applaud the effort but here is the problem. The majority of the bikes I see on the streets of Richmond are weaving all over the road, going between cars at stop lights, running the RED lights, riding the wrong direction on the street, and many have ear pods in so NO they do not hear your vehicle. Yet every time 1 is hit and killed by a car the out cry is stiffer punishments for drivers. If and when LEO starts applying the traffic laws to ALL forms of transportation on public streets, bikes, scooters, 3 wheelers without license plates, then I will agree they can stiffen the penalties on motor vehicle drivers. But since I personally have had to slam on the brakes going as slow as 15 in the city because a bike or scooter shoots out into the road from between parked cars I just don't see that happening.
