I'm looking for a louder horn for the Maverick. I searched the threads, but the problem is the search is too broad and every post that has the word "horn" in it is listed. Over 25 pages of comments. Hoping I'm forgiven for starting a new thread on perhaps an old subject. Anyone have any experience of recommendations? Looking for an easy swap out/replacement.
I got this one from truck and tractor supply, just stick out the window to use!

Good morning "Dad",

This might be the first post you've made that I disagree with. I think the horn in my Mav (and presumably, yours as well) is loud enough to draw attention to our trucks. My wife drives a Toyota Corolla Cross, and I honestly think I can fart louder than her horn. If you find a horn you're happy with for your Mav, please let me know, and I'll install one just like it in her car.

Had a small compressor and train horn on my wrangler. That thing was awesome! If I can find a hideaway place for the compressor I’d install one in the Mav. Hey maybe that hollow space behind the driver side rear wheel that ppl want to cover up… hmmm

Most auto horns are pretty generic for mounting and connecting, unless it's a compressor type.
Just look for horns with a spec you like rather than looking for one for a Maverick.
No one sells Maverick oil either...

My Corolla Hatchback had the same quiet horn. Sounded kinda cute.

On some Toyota models (especially those made in Japan like my Corolla) it is a “cultural” thing.

Per google:
“Car horns in Japanese vehicles often sound softer, higher-pitched, or more polite because they are designed for gentle, localized communication rather than aggressive signaling

Cultural Values

Harmony and patience: Japanese culture places a high value on social harmony (wa) and quiet public spaces.

No frustration honking: Unlike in many Western or busy urban areas, drivers do not honk out of anger when someone is slow at a green light.

Polite gestures: A quick, gentle "toot" is sometimes used to say "thank you" when another driver lets you merge on a narrow road. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Legal Restrictions

Strict laws: Under Article 54 of the Road Traffic Act, honking is illegal unless it is strictly necessary for safety. [1]”

Can't we just mount our horns in the grill and extend the wires?

In front or behind the grille? Not much room between the grille and the radiator.

Our horns are in the engine bay - high up on the driver’s side. Note the hole cut behind the horn below. To let sound out?

When car reviewer SavageGeese test drove a Lobo (he called it Hobo lol) - he noted the odd placement of the horn & how loud it was in the cabin itself!

If your horn is too weak, check to see that both noise-makers are connected.
When I first got my truck, over 4.5 years ago, the horn sounded awfully weak. I checked under the hood and found a bad connection on one of them.
Fixed it. All good now, and since.
