I'm not a Ford guy. I have driven Honda Accords since the late 80s. As a homeowner, I really needed a truck, and as a commuter; I needed something that gets good gas mileage. And Honda doesn't make a hybrid Ridgeline. And then I heard about the Maverick, took a test drive in one, and ordered one on the spot.

I don't consider myself a Ford guy, despite having/had a Ford Granada, Crown Victoria, an F150 and Mercury Cougar. I also had a Chevy Impala and still own a Toyota Avalon that I love. Interestingly, the Avalon has better mileage than the Maverick, with its V6, naturally aspirated engine.

The Maverick replaced the 25 years old F150 for two reasons, better mpg and low price. I wasn't going to pay $60K and more for a new pickup truck, even if it is a real pickup truck, instead of an SUV with a short bed like the Maverick is. I have no real need for a full size bed anyway...

I was driving my second Hyundai Tucson when I got my first Maverick, a 22 EB. In the past, I've had a couple of Nissan handbody pickups, and really missed having a small pickup. So when Hyundai came out with the Santa Cruz, I said "There it is, gonna get one of those". It was only when I was researching the SC that I found out about the Maverick. This was probably February 22. Of course, there was none to be found anywhere. As luck would have it, a local dealer got a couple in and was able to get a decent price (yes, I paid over MSRP, but to a huge amount) and got a decent deal on my 2019 Tucson, so I got it. Of course, I really wanted a hybrid, so last September, when they opened the order banks, I put my order in. I've had my 23 hybrid since March now, and am so glad I got it. I've got a good driving, gas-sipping truck that will do all the truck stuff I'll ever need to do.

Always bought GM, dad worked fo GM. Last truck I had was the GMC Sonoma, great small truck. Went to Ford for the Sync interface and later found so many other features made the car great. Always but the Titanium Level. The Ford Maverick takes me back to a better replacement for the Sonoma with all the ford features I love.

I've always driven Japaneses cars, and avoided American brands like the plague. I decided to give the Maverick a chance, more so than Ford, because a hybrid with a truck bed was the perfect fit for my needs, and had a good price point. If any non-American brand had a better option (the Santa Cruz an't it), I would have gone for that instead. Over a year in, while I do have some regret over buying an American brand vehicle for the reasons I feared, the Maverick Hybrid is a good daily driver.

I think I know the answers ........at least for me....... I had not bought a brand new vehicle in 28 years let alone a Ford until I bought the Mav in May of 22. After I found the Mav, found r/FordMaverickTruck or whatever it is on Reddit and then found MTC, I asked questions, became confident (or crazy) and ordered a Ford product.

What made you switch?

For me, I've always liked the practicality of a truck, but it's the efficiency that's kept me out of them. Then the Maverick, hybrid, a small bed for all that I need, and a cab that is just as spacious as my current car. I've owned a few Ford (and friends) vehicles and they've been low-issue. A really rock-solid 2000 Honda Accord V6. And my current Dodge Dart, which has some electrical gremlins, but it's been a good, cheep, efficient little car. But my driving needs changed from mostly highway to mostly city, so my efficiency dipped. I was already sold on small truck + hybrid MPGs before the driving changes!

I'm really excited!

I also don't consider myself a Ford gal, though I've driven a LOT of them, including about 1/2 dozen Rangers across the years. But I've also owned Toyota, Honda and Chevy vehicles. I'm not brand loyal, I'm functionality loyal. I've traded vehicles from time to time because my NEEDS changed (like when I bought a Chevy Equinoix because it was the easiest thing for my elderly parents to get in/out of).

I bought the Mav because while I'm still a frequent flyer at Home Depot and Lowes, my BIG DIY/hauling days are behind me, as well as the days of me casually climbing UP into a truck. Need something to haul occasional mulch, lumber, washer, etc, but be a comfortable, easy to get in/out of ride in the meantime. Mav was -- still is -- the only thing that fits that bill.

Never owned a Ford in my life. My current car is a Toyota Corolla, before that was a Pontiac Grand Am that lasted damn near forever before it literally blew every gasket at once.

Common theme: compact cars. Easy to park, not so great for anything else. I wanted something more capable, whether I was picking up pavers for the front yard or tossing stuff in it to go to the Smokies for a weekend.

The interior of the XLT looked fun with the orange accents, plus it has all the modern tech my wife’s SUV has (lane departure, blind spot, etc etc). I work for a university that has some 3D printers and laser cutters, and the dork in me wants to play with making my own FITS attachments.

Now if Ford can just build the damn thing.

Never owned a Ford before unless you consider the '98 Mazda B2300 to be a Ford. It was a great little truck that I had for over 8 years and 300,000 miles. Best vehicle I ever had
Since then I've had a Chevy, Hyundais/Kias, (still have 1 of each), and a Subaru (Baja).
Missed having a truck, so when my youngest kid needed a car, decided to buy a used Taco and give her my Santa Fe. Used Tacos with 100,000 miles were going for 25G, which I couldn't justify.

Literally a day later, went online and a Maverick Ad appeared on the screen. Started "building" one and the price at the end was 25G for a brand new truck. Dealer called the next day, went down and added a few bells and whistles, left a deposit, and started the 8 month wait...So far my little truck is great (knocking on wood)

Never was a Ford guy when it came to Trucks. Prior to this one I owned 2 Chevy and 2 Dodge Trucks. The last one being a Dodge which I kept for 19 years! When I bought that one gas was going for around $1.50 per gallon!!

Cheapest hybrid… Cheapest Truck… took a risk untested and no preview of Truck.
Worked better than expected with MPG
, comfort and ride feedback. Not great with 12v issue and Audio system weakness.
Worked around 12v with wired second battery/on a switch and got used to poor radio quality sound in truck.
Perhaps all true above except untested, Ford has been building hybrids for over a decade and trucks for over a century.

I don’t know about the 12 vote battery issue, but I will investigate. What do you do with the 2nd 12v battery?

I didn’t buy the Mav for the sound system. I do plug in my cell phone to play SiriusXM.

As of 2022(& even now) there was nothing quite like it. I am uncertain that I'll get another, NOT because I don't like it, but I hate that Ford is chintzy going out with such things as only 1 key fob, and cutting corners &features whilst still increasing ⬆ the price. Sad really, they had the main recipe and now are trading butter for margarine...😆 PS I had considered the Hyundai Santa's Cruz as the closest second

I have been a "I will never buy an American made vehicle again" guy for nearly 40 years after having horrible experiences with cars from the big 3 makers. I decided to give Ford a chance with the Maverick for two reasons. First, they were the only maker of a reasonably priced small truck. All of the other makers had abandoned the small truck market at a reasonable price. Heck, even the Tacoma is a mid sized truck now and is ridiculously priced. The other reason was I had always told myself that if I was in the truck market again, I would give Ford a chance because if there is one thing Ford is good at, it is trucks.

I am still in the "I won't buy an American made vehicle" camp but the Maverick was the only vehicle that ever made me break my rule. We are currently looking for a hybrid car/suv for my wife and I am not even thinking of anything that the big 3 make for that.
