Same. Keys In pants/shorts/jacket pocket always. No reason to leave them in the vehicle.
When I'm riding my ATV. My keys phone and wallet are all locked in the truck less chance of losing them. There's no reason having a cell phone with me, when there's no service where I ride.
I have charged Green Laser I keep with me when I hike, climb or ride.
Just in case.

Bummer with all the work-arounds required.

Yours is different scenario though, unless you already had that 15 min time-out request pop-up and answered yes.
Was truck still in "Ready" on mode when you got back in?
I'm guessing after lockup that whole routine took longer than 15 min.

You heard latches lock quickly on closing door.
OP's experiment required a little closed door time, before it auto-locked.

Think you might have pushed the lock-lever next to the door handle?
Since you weren't sitting in it - guessing you never had to push near there.
Just wondering if the system assumed that if you pushed the lock-lever you intended to lock it - so it finished the job on rest of the locks. (perhaps knowing it was turning off in 3 min anyway)
After re-reading the OP, I agree my scenario was totally different. It's confusing because of all the different combinations of remote start and keyless entry available on the Mavericks. For posterity I have a base model Maverick with a standard keyed ignition(no push to start), no proximity keyless entry, no keyless entry pin pad, no FOB remote start, and can only access remote start via Ford Pass app. I know for certain I did not hit the interior lock button. So what I think happened is normally when you do a remote start via Ford Pass the truck locks all doors and then starts, but in my case I had the door open when I performed the remote start which prevented it from locking the doors. Then as soon as I closed the door it performed the queued door lock action. I'm planning to do some testing with it when I get home to be sure.

It appears from the comments that this occurs with the button-start Mavericks, correct, or does this happen only with keyed start, or both? I believe this has now been confirmed to be the case with Lariat and XL, so I'm assuming both. I was thinking that this never has happened to me with keyed-start, but then I realized that I've never had the occasion to start a vehicle, close the doors and walk away for 5 minutes, nor can I think of a single case when I would do that.
And 25MY's only.

Unless someone with 24MY Lariat or XLT with Lux keyless entry wants to test this exact scenario.

I'm sure I've waited for son over 15 min with key On, and never got a prompt to leave running.
So that seems new.

Well, I was under the wrong assumption all 25MY were push-button start/keyless entry.

Thanks for letting us know.

At least simple test that doesn't require waiting - but still good to know.

Ok, I did some testing and it turns out I'm just an idiot. Doing a remote start via Ford Pass *with the doors open* does NOT prevent the doors from locking. They lock right before the truck starts as usual. I could have sworn I heard the doors lock when I closed them the other day, but I guess I just imagined it. Either way as it turns out if the doors are locked and you close them with both means of unlocking them inside the vehicle you will in fact be locked out of the vehicle. Who woulda thunk it?

I just got a few blank Ford HU101 'Test Blades' from an online site Locksmith Keyless for $2.25 each and will have a local locksmith make a mechanical copy of my switchblade key.

It might be limited to Sync4a only. There's an option in settings to set max idle time, after which the prompt pops up. I have the same in my Escape, which also has Sync4a. Perhaps Sync3 vehicles don't have this feature? I don't have one to check.

And the non-Lariat's / Lux package don't even get Sync3!

That's good to know. Think that 15 was default time?
And it sounds like it would have kept popping up then, it's not like just the first 15 min block, but each block?

So a better failsafe for MY25 at least, to not just run till out of gas.

Understandable. My phone can send emergency messages to satellite if there is no cell signal so I bring it along when I'm on the trails (MTB or hiking, not ATV).

in my testing i was very careful not to touch anything that would lock the door, and could easily open and close the door immediately after exiting the vehicle. it self-locks after a period of time.

I definitely would have already upgraded the Apim to a Sync 3 if I didn't have a Lariat Lux, after reading all the issues on here.

Considered upgrading mine to Sync 4, but after driving a 2025 Bronco Sport for the last month, don't really see a reason to spend the time/money.

Download the Ford app on your phone, and you can unlock your truck from there.
I've been locked out once. My driver's door has locked but not the other 3, and I have had the doors lock when I get out with the keys inside. Had the window down that time! Weird stuff, and haven't touched the lock! Can't get the FordPass confirmation on my 13" screen! Tried many times to no avail!

Hey Rail…. if the driver‘s door was locked and the other three weren’t …you touched the “lever”….not the “lock” button. 😎
