Anyone install the tailgate lock? I need the part you throw away

The hook piece marked "nz6b-e430c13-ab" seems to be hard to find on its own. Unfortunately, it's also super flimsy and bends if there is the slightest ice buildup underneath the gate.

Did you install a tailgate lock? At least with the mcgard, you throw this piece away. If you still have yours, I'd like to buy it off of you.

Now that I've slowed down to actually think about this, the fact that it can be omitted as unnecessary means that it's not critical that I replace it.

Apparantly, its only purpose is to slightly slow down a tailgate theft. It serves no mechanical purpose other than to be in the way.

Well... I don't think I need this part. It's poorly designed and serves no useful purpose. It's a tailgate appendix.

Well, it's a removable tailgate. That flimsy piece of metal does serve a purpose. Check page 82 of the manual so you'll know what NOT to do to keep the tailgate from accidently coming off.

Yeah. Seeing as it's a non-load-bearing part I bent it back into shape. I'll hit it with some rustoleum where the paint flaked off and it's as good as it needs to be.

Actually, a hose clamp or a large zip-tie would be just as affective and probably would not be effected by ice build up.
