I drove all kind of different vehicukles in my life but never a Ford and never an hybrid.
ONe of the first thing , for me, will be to put tonneau cover,
What are the thinbgs to and not to do when I just receive it?
How is the rust protection on this trucks?

I agree with that. Look up some posts on rustproofing sprays in particular. I have never bought it because we average only 15" snowfall and have a correspondingly low amount of salt applied to the roads, but I remember some people mentioned that they had issues with certain components being sprayed with the film. damned if I remember what - search and find out.

The big thing to decide is if you're going to put paint protection film on the front bumper and hood. Ford sells an accessory for it that has minimal coverage and is better than nothing, but you should plan to spend $500 - 1000 to do it right.

Once you start getting stone chips on the front bumper and hood, it's too late.

There seems to be no factory rust preventive to be found. I am in the rust belt and have sprayed mine liberally with Fluid Film after removing all the wheel well liners and underbody shields. There are many places to catch and hold debris and salt on these trucks. In my opinion, rust will the the main issue with these trucks in only a few years if left unprotected.

I don't know if people are still having problems, but don't get out and shut the door with the key in it, they've been known to lock themselves.

Rust protection is non existent. Fluid film the underbody.

Check tire pressures and wheel nut torque.

Splash guards, and a tailgate damper are both nice additions, easy to install, and relatively inexpensive.

Splash guards will keep the vehicle cleaner. The tailgate damper makes it safer when young kids are nearby.
I’m glad to hear that you already have a tonneau cover in your plans.

Consider creating keyword alerts for specific topics you're interested in (eg: "accessories", "tonneau"). When you get a hit, not only read the thread, but read the thread descriptions that will appear at the bottom of the page titled "Similar Threads". Similar Threads often yield better data than forum search results (in my experience).

How is the rust protection on this trucks?

I am waiting to take delivery early January on my 2025 Lariat. Yesterday, I scheduled rustproofing from Ziebart. $750 before taxes.

Mine already had rust on the front bumper area. It has seen maybe 3-4 days of rain. Sits inside a garage 99% of the time and has 3900 miles on it, 15 months old.

Also has rust bubbling under the paint in areas.

Id recommend a lanolin based product that you reapply instead of Ziebart but to each their own.

An application of Fluid Film runs about $100 if you do it yourself. Year 2 is probably similar and after that it’s mostly just touch up.

I use to do everything myself. I am now 75 and way too old to do these things. I am waiting for a quote from rinoliner
