Awesome ford did me solid already so I will go see what's up. I still wanted my daughter to get my current build. Might look at Hyundai for her just in case. This is not a bash on ford, just looking out for best bang for my kid n dad rigs.

My daughter Bought a Hyundai Sonata with 75k 1 week later she called me. "Dad my engine blew". She had the extended warranty. I told her take it back to the dealer. After a month of fighting with them. They put in a "New" engine. 3 Days later she called me and said. " Dad I checked the oil and it's not on the stick." Hyundai is not putting in new engines to replace their junk engines. They are putting in Rebuilts. Now they are saying that losing a little oil for the first 1500 miles is normal. I wouldn't buy a damn Hyundai.

I tried to order a 2024 XL-EB Maverick and I think they're only placing orders for the XLT and Lariat. Had I been able to order what I really wanted, I probably would have kept my order for the '24 rather than letting it become a dealer allocation.

2 quarts low in 1500 miles would fail oil use test at Hyundai. Carbon buildup on piston rings then excessive oil consumption with end result of seized engine is far too common on Hyundai/Kia direct injection engines. First I've heard of oil consumption issue on remanufactured Hyundai engine. At least until it has about 50,000 miles on it.
I recommend anyone owning a Hyundai or Kia to have oil changes completed at dealer or shop. Failure to complete this basic maintenance or having incomplete records is risk of denial of powertrain warranty.

Thankfully Ford engines are not known for oil burning engine failing.

I'd recommend Maverick over the Santa Cruz. If you do get a Hyundai then make sure checking the dipstick is part of the ownership experience.
