It's not Android itself that would stop me, but google's propensity to track you senseless.

I would want to see a serious audit showing that no data flows to google.

I'd have the same problem with a hypothetical Amazon system, let alone Adobe. (And this would be a good place to insert a joke about Microsoft and crashing! )

Whether it's benevolence, diabolically calculated marketing evil, or somewhere between, Apple has latched on to privacy as scaleable, and engineers to that marketing agenda.

All in all, though, I'd prefer neither apple or google in there. Provide basic display, and let customers bring their own phone. I find it highly improbable that Ford or Garmin will be able to keep up with either Android or iOS. [hmm would have to catch them first . . . ]

You consent the first time you turn on the infotainment system, at least there was when I got my Maverick. A lot of dealers likely do it for you. It's consent, or don't use the infotainment system. Tough choice.

While you are still new to your Maverick, you might check to see if the Guided Virtual Tour is available for you. It is a 30 minute or so session with a Ford Rep via your phone (video call) to go over features and answer questions. You might want to get that scheduled, in a little bit so you can take advantage of this (it is free).

On my phone Ford pass, they tell me that I have free Ford connect until the end of 2025.
I have an Android phone.
Yesterday I was able to have google maps on the display but not today.

I tried to upload an image several times but it did not work

Usually, problems uploading images is because the filesize is too big. Shrink the image and try again.

Sometimes I have to unlock the phone for the Android auto to work. Most of the time I don't.

There's a setting to allow AA to work w/o unlock.

Yeah, I have that enabled but it doesn't work all the time. There's another security setting that disables usb file access if the phone hasn't been unlocked within an hour. That sounds plausible because I would usually have checked the phone when I picked it up but not always. So we'll see if that does it.
