I worked in electronics/computers many years of my life; the strangest this about them is that they work at all. An atom at the wrong place is enough to stop everything.

It's the same for me, but it's Apple Carplay. Generally, the unplugged and re-plug fix works, but I have had times when I was stuck using Bluetooth for a day or so. It's very strange.
Only real issue I have is I have a wireless dongle for android auto, and if I end up using the other USB port to charge, sometimes they fight for control... And I'll either need to plug into the USB charger on the 12v (cigarette lighter), or pull the dongle.

Otherwise, has been great and pretty easy setup.

The USB on the rear of the console is a charge only port.

So I got this maverick not quite a week ago.
There is lot of things to learn about this truck and I am an old dog (75 in two days).
I have been working on and with computers for the last 30 years.
I am not so familiar with phones and tablets.
I got Ford pass and so on but I cannot find the Ford navigation maps on my sync 4.
I have been fighting with it probably 4 hours today and I logged in Alexa and this junk but to no avail.
Now I even lost google maps.
I need help.
Thank you.
I'm and old dog and I worked in IT for 34 years, I am not so familiar with phones and tables. I never configured or used Ford pass, I've had my vehicle for 2.5 years, never had a problem, and I refuse to think I have to monitor my modern day vehicle with an application and check on status messages every day. Ignore it - you'll live a happier life.

'm and old dog and I worked in IT for 34 years,
I am curious...did you use key punch cards at the beginning of your career? When I was a senior in college, my class was the last one to use them.

I did! 3 or 4 college years we used punch cards (back in the mid 70s) , year four they finally got terminals. When I started work in 79 my boss gave me a list of programs that I was responsible for and he proudly pointed to the group of steel gray - likely WWII era - cabinets and he said - and your card decks are right over there. Imagine a few 4000 card programs, imagine the fun of patching them....when I asked my boss if it was ok if I dumped them to disk and maintained them there he was reluctant - he said well he didn't trust that 'disk' - but hey it was my call. Yeah they got xferred to files within a month.

First side hustle in college was special punch tape loaders sold for breakfast taco money. Some software I wrote for Unix still exists.

Maybe so…but Ford Pass helped me recover my stolen F250 truck in less than an hour. I tracked it on the map as they drove it away. Showed the cops where it stopped. Two officers were there standing by the parked truck in 42 minutes. I was driving back home in less than an hour. FordPass doesn’t run my life, but it sure saved me from having to pick a new color…if you know what I mean. 😎

I worked in credit card billing for Gasoline sales. Punch cards used until about 1975-1976. Had 35 punch operators punching account numbers and amounts in the cards manually carbon printed at service stations. Was running just under 700,000 cards per month. Replaced most of them with optical scanner with florescent ink jet printer that could feed 1200 cards per minute. The optical reader had a 15k lumen bulb with an oscillating mirror that would reflect each character onto a 176 photo cell panel. The character would bounce somewhere into the 176 cells. I got to write the code that determined if it was a particular number. Like a 1 would trip a certain number range of cells and a 0 would trip over twice as many with more at the top. 6 and 9 would be approximately the same number but the 9 would have more at the top than the 6. Etc.... only had milliseconds for each card with 16-22 characters. If program could not issue a spray command before the card passed the spray head card feed was stopped and 8-9 cards would wind up in trash bins knife edged into each other with 1-3 cards set on fire by the hot bulb so 1 or more people would get a free tank of gas with several getting partially burned "proof of purchase". Ahhh! The good old days.
EDIT TO ADD:
the punch gals gotta new 029 machines auto feed stop card in position to read then released on data entered "return" key then moved to punch position. After several months one gal started having problems with her machine. Couple weeks later two others also. IBM repair dude couldn't find anything wrong so he finally said "show me". The punch gals went to work with their hands moving over the key pad in a circular motion and you could hardly detect fingers moving. Then when a faster record was playing on the radio they played while working. It happened machine failed and tech said I will order a larger memory chip. The gals exceeded the number of cards that the chip could hold. Listening to music and subconsciously reading and punching. Tech said two of the gals were actually releasing their cards in unison with each other. Account number, enter, then amount then release. Wish I had vid of it....

So the 2025s don't come with a printed owners manual. I was given a supplemental owner's guide, but it's basically worthless. I'm not about to download and print 528 pages so I went to Helm Inc. to order one (at $58) only to find out that they're out of stock.

Sometimes I have to unlock the phone for the Android auto to work. Most of the time I don't.
Change your AndroidAuto setting to connect even when your phone is unlocked.

...Whether it's benevolence, diabolically calculated marketing evil, or somewhere between, Apple has latched on to privacy as scaleable, and engineers to that marketing agenda...
Marketing.

Apple is fast & loose with privacy, too. If they weren't they wouldn't be having to pay (mere crumbs, mind you) re the Siri privacy class action suit. https://www.classaction.org/news/95m-apple-siri-settlement-seeks-preliminary-approval-from-court

"What happens on the iphone stays on the iphone" is marketing bullshit.

Of course, much of our personal data is already out there, not through google or apple breaches or sales of our data by them (neither one sells your personal data), but from breaches of other companies like Equifax, BlueCross, AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, Home Depot, Target and too many others to count.

Just download the .pdf from Ford.com to a PC, tablet or phone. The .pdf is searchable, making finding something much faster than trying to thumb though a print version.

Well, I'm old fashioned. I just prefer searching a physical copy.
