Hybrid rattle / shutter video

My hybrid has an occasional rattle at low speeds or idling when the gas engine switches off. Has been back to ford dealer twice and the last time they contacted ford directly. They claim this is normal operation. It is occasionally in normal and eco drive modes but happens most in sport since engine switches on and off more.

There’s another thread but this user is reporting ford has come up with a PCM Update and the dealer has applied it and since then it’s fixed

I've noticed the same thing twice in the last 3 days. Always a block or two away from home, when it's cold in the morning.... I'm not going to bring it up to my dealership until I take it in for recall stuff. It still runs and I still love it!

mine rattles and shudders too at the first drive in the morning when coming to a stop or slowing down, but not as bad as yours.

Lol, I feel like it’s a never ending cycle of people taking about a problem…. and then people letting them know about the fix being available.

recently as in three days ago (I just hit 2k miles today), my Mav sounds like the top video clip and has a nasty rattle when ICE shuts off - not every time but enough times for me to start noticing it.

NOT cold down here (South Florida, mid-80's).

Ambient temperature doesn’t seem to matter more so the temperature of the ICE itself.
I’m in Hawaii (it’s warm and sunny all year round). and it definitely makes some funny noises and drives weird almost like it’s bucking or surging at a stop when the engine is cold.

To prevent it once I start the truck in the morning while still in park and brake on I press the gas/accelerator pedal down till the engine starts and I’ll sit for ~20 seconds for it to warm up then drive.

Why not just switch to sport mode. Doesn’t that keep the ice on?

I’ve been following them… while they have SAID it’s a much more detailed “fix”…. I haven’t seen anyone say that they have gotten that “fix” and reported back on it. But maybe someone did, and I just haven’t seen it… which is entirely possible.
