Mine too. Also rattles like crazy while at idle in park. I also got a check engine light for a misfire. My dealership is pulling the engine and transmission to replace the clutch assembly, absolute nightmare.
UGH....would love to know if that fixes your issue. Also, how many miles when you experienced the issue?

Time to check if they're eligible for your state's lemon law.

Well, after two attempts to fix a life safety issue I think the Lemon Law applies (from what I have read). Varies from state to state. I am not hoping for a Lemon Law situation, I just want it the way it was at 1800 miles. Also, I have another one on order for my daughter but I am having reservations about going through with another Hybrid Maverick purchase.

I had a very strange shudder today at 35pmh that felt like I was driving over a bunch of small speed bumps. It lasted maybe a full second. The other shudders happen so fast, you are like, did I just feel that? When my windows is down it is loud outside when it happens, at any speed or when parked.

Has the frequency, noise, and duration increased throughout your 16K miles?

Nope it’s always been the same. I’m afraid these trucks are heavily flawed.

But they had my truck for 28 days....and still had no idea what is wrong. My truck ran silently the first 1900 miles - you couldn't tell whether you were on battery or ICE. To me, now even the engine sounds louder when on. Is that the same for you too?
My truck was great up to 15k miles. It was very smooth not noticeable when switching from ICE to electric. Then all of a sudden it started doing the shutter and rattle every once in awhile . Now it’s been 10k miles since it started. It happens more often now and it’s louder. Also it could be me but the gas engine when running seems louder as well. Ford has told me this is normal operation and a characteristic of the Atkinson engine. My answer to them was I found it very hard to believe that Ford would design something to make that terrible sound when it changes and that is not normal. The dealer said Fords own engineering team reviewed my video of the sound and said normal operation and basically return to the dealer if it impacts the vehicle’s function.

It’s not normal. This is my first and last ford.

In my case, it happened this past Monday. Sound is much like the 2nd video. Almost like driving over the rumble strip on the side of a road. 7500 miles, mid-50s temps outside, and toward the end of a 40-mile drive.

From experience, its not something they can just snap their fingers and fix. They have to identify the cause, determine it's risk/severity level, and then come up with a fix, test it, then get it out to people. Part of that is knowing how many are affected, and if they can get their hands on a vehicle where it happens so they can reproduce it first. And we all know the 'it never happens while the mechanic has it' thing...

if you experience it, report it to your dealer or if Ford reaches out here. And if yours is doing it with regular consistency, get it to a dealership and note that Ford is aware people are experiencing this issue so they might want to reach out to Ford Engineering/ProHelp to get more eyes on it. As much as it may suck to wait for a fix, its the same with every brand out there - some problems take some time to identify and fix properly.

Not normal. It reminds me of "run on" like when you shut off a lawn mower engine and it acts the same way. Usually caused when the fuel/air mixture in the cylinders ignites without a spark also known as dieselling.

I thought this maybe the case as well but I am not so sure. Sometimes it almost sounds like it’s something rotating making the sound. Like a clutch or something not lining up when the engine changes modes.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, file a complaint online with the NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION https://www.nhtsa.gov/ the more documented incidents, then better the chances are of getting a fix sooner.

Any possibility it was the Lane Keeping waring "vibration" feedback? The first time I got that, I wondered "What the heck was that?" You can experiment by intentionally driving over the lane marker and see how it responds. (Not saying that's what it was, just that it might be...)

From one James Parker to another, no possibility....Lane Assist is only activated when cruise control is engaged - cruise control was not engaged at the time it happened. Also, I felt it through the entire truck, not just steering wheel.

Lane Keeping System alerts you when you are drifting out of your lane - it will vibrate the steering wheel.

Lane centering with adaptive cruise control keeps you centered in your lane.

Two different features.
